5 seconds is a perfect max. I typically take 3-4 second hits. Any longer and the wick dries out. 10 seconds or more between hits is best. Also, preheating will melt new oil into the wick giving you a cleaner and fatter hit.

People think that you have to take blinkers just to get high that is not true you can keep it on a mid voltage and take a lot of small hits and still get just as high as one blinker and it saves your cart so you’re not burning it

For anybody picking up carts I’d recommend a battery like the yocan uni pro (or something similar). they’ve got variable wattage and can go down a lot lower than most other batteries which has really upped my cart experience. My range is usually 2.4w-2.8w and taking a few rips at that level is way nicer than getting one or two huge puffs at once. I’ve also noticed I go through carts slower with it, so that’s an added bonus

I lost my leg a year ago in a motorcycle accident. I was already a smoker but now it’s the only thing that works for nerve pain. So from the moment I wake up I take lil 2 second hits throughout the day and each time that erases my pain for a bit. Just goes to show that 2 seconds is sufficient. I’ve never taken a blinker actually, I would just dab.

Definitely agree with you when it comes to cheaper batteries and carts but some of the more expensive products are designed with people that hit blinkers in mind so they don't get nearly as hot as the cheaper alternatives.

I just recently learned how important low voltage is!! I’m a new smoker and I recently switched from disposables to Cart&Battery. I just randomly assumed higher is better with voltage so I kept my battery at 4.2v 24/7. I was wondering why I was only able to take tiny ass hits and why I was never getting high. I even bought a few more batteries thinking that 4.2v wasn’t high enough lol. Until a week ago, when my battery accidentally got put back in the lowest setting 3.2v, my life changed. I was able to rip a nice sized cloud for once.. and I got torched. I hope one day a new stoner with the same issues stumbles upon this comment.

wow this is actually really relieving to hear. I used to hit blinkers couple years ago constantly cause I had that same mentality you mentioned but it was always painful af so I always had that little thought in the back of my head like does it hurt this much for everybody? am i just a pussy? lmao but slowly overtime i gradually went down to hitting it only 3-4 seconds at a time and then waiting like 30 seconds before hitting it another 3-4 seconds and then im chill for a while.

fam. he just said it burns the metal. so if u have a high tolerance it’s prolly cuz ur inhaling metals not the actual oil. i used to do this all the time. id hit like 5 blinkers and i’d think it’s cool. but then i stopped smoking for a couple months and then started again, this time i haven’t hit one blinker and i only do like 3 second hits over and over

Another note worth mentioning, it also fully kills the internal battery, so you're gonna be charging that pen more often and thus you won't get the right voltage you need to in order to heat the oil inside the cart.

A good example is a box pen I had bought made for Cannabis, and my friend would do blinker hits off it, it was a digital Yocan pen and anytime you'd put the voltage to 3.4 it'd feel incredibly weak and useless fully charged.

I didn't know what a blinker was when I saw just the video thumbnail, but I saw a vape in it, and made the connection. I would hit blinkers twice per go, like you said thinking that was the full hit.

Now, just a few hits twice, and I'm good.

I thought the blink meant to stop - which I guess it does, but I didn't realize I should stop before then. It's really hard to figure out how to use a vape pen if you're a non-smoker, which I am. It feels weird to inhale. I've been told to pretend it's a straw and I'm taking a drink, only that's not really the same at all. Taking a drink and sucking in are two completely different things to my brain. Thanks for the info, from now on it's short little hits for me.

I had a pen with a digital timer to let you know how many seconds you hit it. I've found that between 2-3.2 seconds is perfect for me depending on the cart and what I need it for. But there's always someone who wants to out-smoke you 😆

Personally, every cart I get I always pulse the button. One long hit where I pulse it on for 2 seconds and off for like 3-4 to let it cool and get all the vapor out. Also helps it not clog.

it's definitely not at all as bad for you as he made it seem lol. it doesn't break down any metals, since the heat from it isn't hot enough to actually make the metals leech into the oil lol. I love this guy but sometimes he plays devil's advocate a bit too hard :) blinkers are fine, although yes taking smaller hits makes oil last longer obviously

Well i learned something new today. I thought hitting a blinker was the better way so it is worth the hit. I thought the wax goes just as fast hitting it for 3-4 seconds, like a blinker. I thought wax was just harsher from it being concentrated thc, not heat. Im glad this popped up on my recommended, im looking forward to trying out the correct way of hitting carts

Ya know, this explains a lot. My mom and I are just now in an area where rec is available and thus, these concentrates are available. She loves carts but can't figure out why she burns through them so fast and I don't. But this explains it, she does blinkers all the time. She's an old stoner from the 70s where they were told to take the biggest hit and hold it as long as possible. And I've been trying to break her of those habits. Maybe this video will finally convince her. A cart lasts me 2x as long because I take "baby hits" aka small hits but consistently for about 20-30 minutes until I'm nice and baked. She tries to get blitzed off of 5 hits or whatever.

I did a video at an extraction lab recently and they told me that ideally you don’t even want to be smoking out of a metal cart for a lot of reasons. They said quartz carts are the best and ceramic carts are also nice but what you said in this video aligns with exactly what you said. Great video brother!!

I just recently found out that "Connected" on of the companies making these batteries has addressed the issue a bit. Rather than allowing a ten second pull it blinks after 4-5 seconds and makes you wait a couple seconds before allowing another hit

I’m not saying your wrong, your completely right— well more like partially right. Higher end pens have a temp control on it and won’t get hot enough to where it’s burning off the metal into the oil. But most 10-20$ pens u shouldn’t hit for more than 4 secs

Even if it were hot enough to "burn" (oxidize) the metal, the metal oxides wouldn't be soluble in the oil. And even if they were, the pen would never get hot enough to boil metal oxide before completely melting, so you wouldn't inhale any of it. (Boiling temp. for Nickel, Chromium, Iron oxides are all above 6000 degrees F)

Honestly it's kinda weird how many vape stoners get so up in arms when they hear the word "metal" or "aluminium" in relation to any part of a vape, and refuse to understand how chemicals and compounds other than THC or CBD work on a surface level (and even then they still they misunderstand a tonne). As if SnB would be medically certified if they had aluminium leaching from their own dosing capsules or vaporizers, and as if a DynaVap is going to be off-gassing iron oxides into your weed.

I feel like for this video though it was probably a misunderstanding of what "burning out" a vape means to be charitable, taking it literally rather than it meaning the coil's fucked or the flavour's gone from hitting it too hard and long.

Depending on the battery you need to turn it up I've had a cookies battery and I turned it all the way down and I basically didn't hit but I went to the smoke shop and bought a 40 dollar yokan battery the lowest setting is like the highest on the cookies so its different for each battery

I hit blinkers on occasion for the novelty of it, or just wanting to cough my lungs out (or see if I could NOT cough my lungs out). I believe that doing it on occasion won't destroy the coil, simply because the limit is more than likely set well below the temperature at which the metal will break down. Doing blinkers back to back doesn't allow the coil to cool down so it will just get hotter and hotter.

I’ve done this for a while now and noticed my carts holding onto their original flavor longer versus when I try my friends who takes much longer hits and usually has some burned taste to it

I've never made my vape pen blink by hitting it, and I have to use it often because No Smoking Inside rule for anything not even incense.
I didn't know that about vape pens either, and they don't tell you this stuff at the dispensary either... Great video!

Also, if you’re hitting blinkers every time, you are heating up the oil which in turn makes it thin enough to leak past the ceramic coil and you’re just wasting it out the bottom of your cart or sucking it into your mouth.

Not in many, many years.

I try to avoid the 510 pen battery setups. I've been using a Yocan Uni(Pro) for the past couple of years now, as it gives me excellent temp control plus...well, it works, plain and simple. Depending on the cart fill, I can move around in a 3.2 to 3.7 volt range and get great results.

The big difference between these and 510 sticks is that, with that temperature control, you can take 1 or 2 seconds to bring the element up and have everything optimal for little, shorty hits. Fact is, when everything's set correctly, those little baby hits expand to a ridiculously huge cloud... DEFINITELY the optimal hit, as you can exhale plenty of vapor...much more than one would expect.

Seriously, there's no comparison. 510 sticks just don't have the control to pull that off. Might be great for people trying extract vaping for the first time, but if you're a med recipient, you want the best tech that'll fit your needs. That's what you get with a quality mod.

Haha that’s funny cuz I absolutely have learned this lesson over time. I too use to suck on them until they blinked when they first came out. But to be fair they were horrible years ago. I often found myself trying to achieve a big cloud like smoking flower. Now all I need is literally 1 hit for 3 sec hit on the lowest setting and I’m good to go.

Just now looking at your vids . I love them and you are right about the blinkers except you can also try 1 thing . Ever blinker you take , after you hit it , take it out and feel how hot it is . I usually take 1 stizzy blinker sometimes 2 back to back with the big battery , I can tell you that my pods are not hot at all . Who ever reads this might think I’m lying but I have both kinds of stizzy batteries and I always check my pods to see if they’ve been overheated. So far no overheating. After I take my 1 or 2 blinkers I let my pos rest for 2-6 mins depending on when I want to take another . But I’m not saying you are wrong . Love all of your videos man!! Much love!❤️

I recommend something like a Yo can Uni Pro, it goes lower than most batteries, as low as 2.0, where most batteries dont go below 3.0 when the carts have a recommended max of 2.8, increasing the risk of burning coils, killing batteries, as well as overheating coils like you mentioned. I only have to hit mine for maybe 5 seconds to get a good hit. Any more and its way harsher

Auto shutoff is so it doesnt burn in your pocket.

As long as you have fluid on it, it shouldnt “break-down” as you say.

Btw those coils probably have kanthal in them.... kanthal off gasses.

Stainless steel is the way to go. It doesn’t off gas till its a liquid :D also SS has temp control capabilities. Also has the cleanest taste ive had apart from quartz

I’ve always hated hitting blinkers unless the homies doubt I can, but I also let it go after like 2-3 sec and repeat til I feel like I get a good cloud, never burns the oil, and saves it a bit more by not creating a bigger bubble, but you still have to consider when the bubbles are big and more absorbs into the coils.

A lot of people don’t know this. I didn’t until a couple weeks ago. Some pens have pre-heat settings. Low heat held over like a 5 second period.

You can take hits while it pre-heats and never get hot.

Lately I’ve been using water filtration with my vape pen. I use a small rubber adapter to “mate” the vape with my bong. This seems to work great, but I’m concerned that I’m vaping upside down.

Something I learned with age is hit it a few times and wait 5 min. You can only get so high until it's just a waste. I know when you are young it's a thing most all of us have done but seriously try it.

I highly suggest everyone using 510 threaded cartridges to find a battery with adjustable wattage. I run my oils at 2.0v on a Yocan Uni Pro

Preheat settings or a 2 second pulse (Just hold the button but don't draw) and then go for 2 to 3 seconds pull and you'll be golden less wasteful full hit and built into even the $20 pens now

I agree i always avoid blinkers, most batteries are 10 seconds or more, its fine for the first few hits but then it starts to get super burnt tasting, distalit carts are much better for big blinker hits, then live resin carts or rosin those i have to hit on a super low temp or the oil just gets super burnt. Also lots of batteries are just at super high voltages and burn the oil too fast my max is 3.0 for distalit oil anything over that it way too hot, live resin carts or rosin ones i try to hit on the lowwest possible temp my battery goes down to 1.8 which gives a nice flavorful hit

For 510 carts get a wulf pro. Variable voltage, built in timer, long battery life. I do 1-3 3 second puffs (I know because you can see the timer while lol you hit) and it is perfect. 2.2 volts will give you good flavor while preserving your e juice.

I usually do "blinkers" to keep the vape from re-solidifying and clogging. I pull until the blink and keep pulling until clean air comes through the unit.
