In 1976 at the age of 17 she became one of the founding members of the legendary teenage all-female hard rock band The Runaways. There she played lead guitar.
After the group folded in 1979, she began a solo career. Her guitar playing was well respected amongst her peers, both when she was a member of The Runaways and as a solo act. When she had the material to back her up, Ford was inarguably capable of rocking out aggressively and assertively, and more times than not, better than the best of her male counterparts. Her first two albums, Out for Blood and Dancin' on the Edge were relatively successful, and in 1985, Ford was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance for "Gotta Let Go", along with Wendy O. Williams and Pia Zadora. However the musical genre of "arena metal rock" had already crested and was now beginning its decline in the second half of the 1980s.
Nothing was heard from Ford for the next four years; a follow-up to Dancin' on the Edge, titled The Bride Wore Black, was abandoned and never released, as Ford switched from Mercury Records to RCA Records. By the time Ford returned again, the lighter pop-metal she had long favored had broken through to mainstream audiences, which set the stage for her most commercially successful album, 1988's Lita. With Sharon Osbourne as her manager, and slickly produced by Mike Chapman, the album featured Ford's first commercial hit, the #12 "Kiss Me Deadly". Its follow-up ballad, a duet with Ozzy Osbourne entitled "Close My Eyes Forever", provided both artists with their first Top Ten single.
Lita Ford is back with a vengeance! Her new album Wicked Wonderland is due for release October 6th 2009. More information can be found on her My Space profile: Lita Ford Official My Space Profile

Lita Ford Lyrics

Unless you put your fist through the wall
I don’t wanna hear you screaming my name
I’m so tired of playing the same old game
I don’t wanna fight with you no more
Unless you put your fist through the wall
I don’t wanna hear you screaming my name
Yeah you left your mark on me
That you know is branded
It was an insecurity
So you had me grounded
You really got your hooks in deep
Now didn’t you?
I took a little ride
On your hell-bound train
It was a really bad trip
It nearly drove me to my grave
And too much time was going by
And you’re still here
It’s time for me to fly
You never wanted me to leave
So you had me branded
Your love was just skin deep
So you had me branded
Tought I’d be yours for eternity
So you had me branded
You really got your hooks in deep
Now didn’t you?
When we first met
You said let down your wall
Let me into your heart
We can have it all
You were a real smooth talker
I opened up my heart
So you can rip it apart
Oh-oh
Just like Satan
Obsession, possesion forever
You never wanted me to leave
So you had me branded
Your love was just skin deep
So you had me branded
Tought I’d be yours for eternity
So you had me branded
You really got your hooks in deep
Now didn’t you?
Yeah
Branded!
In the song "Branded" by Lita Ford, the artist talks about her toxic and dysfunctional relationship with her partner. She expresses her frustration and desire to finally break free from the endless cycle of fighting and emotional abuse. Lita suggests that her partner has left an emotional scar on her that cannot be erased, and their love was never real, just skin deep. The use of the word "branded" implies something that is permanently marked or etched into her being due to the actions of her partner.
Through the lyrics, Lita reveals how her partner manipulated and controlled her entirely, leaving hooks so deep that she nearly couldn't escape. At the beginning of the song, Lita expresses her reluctance to be in another fight unless it becomes physical, indicating that it's time for her to finally end the relationship. She expresses her frustration with the same old repetitive game of fighting and then reconciling. The artist even compares her partner to Satan, suggesting he was evil and had a sick obsession for her.
The song lyrics' overall message is that the singer has endured a turbulent relationship and is finally ready to break free. As she moves on, Lita Ford has learned from her experiences and understands that abuse is never okay. She concludes that the love she once shared with her now ex-partner was never real in the first place, and it's time to move on from the toxic relationship.
