Young Gods
Little Angels Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They stand in the shadows with holed out shoes
They got everything to gain and nothing to lose
They're strong hearts alive
They got stars in their eyes
They come from the towns of worn out streets
Where all the tribes dance to all the different beats
But they're all the same
Same spirits with a different name
The young gods

Maybe you're eighteen, maybe just left school
You spend your last dole money on a bedsit room
That's the only way
Man you got to live for the day
And when the old men scowl and start to criticise ya
Cause they don't understand what you want in your life
That's the same refrain
Always gonna be the same
For young gods

So stand up and fight for your life
(Stand up, Stand up)
No surrender and no compromise
(Stand up, Stand up)
When desire is burning your eyes
(Stand up, Stand up)
You're young gods
(Stand up, Stand up, Stand up)
You're young gods
(Stand up, Stand up, Stand up)

So when ya down hard sure that you're life's a mess
And you're worried that your place in the human race
Has come apart at the seams
Well hold on to your dreams
You young gods
You young gods
You young gods

So stand up and fight for your life
(Stand up, Stand up)
No surrender and no compromise
(Stand up, Stand up)
When desire is burning your eyes
(Stand up, Stand up)
You're young gods
(Stand up, Stand up, Stand up)
You're young gods
(Stand up, Stand up, Stand up)

Go

You gotta stand up and be counted
Cause you gotta make your own way

You young gods
You young gods

So stand up and fight for your life
(Stand up, Stand up)
No surrender and no compromise
(Stand up, Stand up)
When desire is burning your eyes
(Stand up, Stand up)
You've got to stand Up.
Stand up and fight for your lifes

So stand up and fight for your life
(Stand up, Stand up)
No surrender and no compromise
(Stand up, Stand up)
When desire is burning your eyes
(Stand up, Stand up)

At The Best Of we are real fans of the Little Angels. Great to have these rockers back on the biggest stages!!

I saw these guys in the 90's and was super impressed. I wasn't aware that Michael Lee was the drummer at the time, and years later in 2015 I worked for him in Darlington weeks before his sudden death. I didn't know him really well, but I knew him - He was the kind of guy who you felt like you'd known forever. Little Angles lost a brilliant drummer and musician, and we all lost a beautiful human being with his passing.
R.I.P Michael Lee.

I met Michael at the Baskerville Arms in Shiplake when he was doing some work at Barry Barlow's studio. Perfect gentleman, really nice guy.

Love this group. First saw them 89/90 supporting Marillion and loved their sound, so saw them a few more times as headliners. Sad to hear they split and had given up on ever seeing them again, so how happy was I when they reformed. Shepherds Bush in December was great, Cambridge in June was one of the best nights ever. Thanks for the memories guys. And never say never Toby.....
