After a return to college to focus on her studies, Hesketh along with two of her fellow students formed the electronic/indie pop band Dead Disco in 2005. The band had limited releases of their four singles but due to increasingly different ideas about the band's musical direction, Hesketh left to pursue a solo career. Hesketh has cited as influences The Human League, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, and Jean-Michel Jarre.
Hesketh began writing her own songs and posting covers on the social networking sites such as YouTube and MySpace. After appearing on several shows including Later... with Jools Holland and Last Call with Carson Daly, Hesketh entered production on her debut album. With increasing media attention regarding her then-yet-to-be-released debut album, Hesketh topped the BBC Sound of 2009 poll and received a BRIT Critics Choice nomination. She has been linked to a wave of breakthrough female artists in their twenties playing 1980s-influenced music, including Lady Gaga, Ladyhawke, Florence and the Machine, and Elly Jackson of La Roux.
Her debut album, Hands, was released on 8 June 2009 on 679 Recordings and Atlantic Records to generally positive reviews. The album peaked at number five on the UK Albums Chart and at number twenty on the Irish Albums Chart. Hands included a collaboration with Phil Oakey from The Human League on the song "Symmetry". The first single off the album "New in Town" became a top twenty hit, while the next single "Remedy", produced by RedOne, reached the top ten. She has also released the EP Illuminations in the United States.
Little Boots' second album, Nocturnes, was released on 5 May 2013 on her own label On Repeat.

Little Boots Lyrics

I used to make you smile if only for a while
But now you can't get through, there's no way I can lose
I know some days are hard but don't you make mine too
'Cause I can't stand it when you come home and we just fight for hours
But I won't show it, no I'll just hold my breath and keep it quiet
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand I won't say a word
Every time you hug me I know that it's working, making you mine
Every clap of thunder only makes me stronger on the inside
How many countless nights I try my best to hide
Soon as you slam the door my tears fall to the floor
I know that people change, maybe you're not to blame
But must you burn a hole so deep into my soul
'Cause I can't stand it when you come home and we just fight for hours
But I won't show it, no I'll just hold my breath and keep it quiet
Every little earthquake, every little heartbreak going unheard
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand I won't say a word
Every time you hug me I know that it's working, making you mine
Every clap of thunder only makes me stronger on the inside
Every little earthquake, every little heartbreak
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand
Every little earthquake, every little heartbreak
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand
Every little earthquake, every little heartbreak
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand
Every little earthquake, every little heartbreak going unheard
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand I won't say a word
Every time you hug me I know that it's working, making you mine
Every clap of thunder only makes me stronger on the inside
Every little earthquake, every little heartbreak
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand
Every little earthquake, every little heartbreak
Every little landslide, catch it in my hand
Little Boots's song Earthquake is a poignant and emotive ballad about the ups and downs of a troubled relationship. In the first verse, the singer reflects on happier times, when she used to be able to make her partner smile. However, she acknowledges that things have changed, and now their relationship is dominated by fights and arguments. She pleads with her partner not to bring his bad moods home, as they only make her feel worse. Despite her pain and frustration, the singer tries to keep her emotions hidden, holding her breath and keeping quiet to avoid conflict.
In the chorus, the singer shows how she copes with the emotional upheaval of her relationship. She compares the turmoil she feels inside to an earthquake, a heartbreak, and a landslide, all of which go unheard and unseen by those around her. She keeps her feelings bottled up inside, catching them in her hand and refusing to say a word. However, every time her partner hugs her, she feels hope that their relationship can be saved, and every clap of thunder makes her stronger on the inside.
The bridge of the song is particularly poignant, as the singer reveals the extent of her pain and her struggle to keep her emotions in check. She describes countless nights spent crying alone, as soon as her partner leaves the room. She acknowledges that people change and that he may not be entirely to blame, but asks whether he has to hurt her so deeply.
Overall, Little Boots's Earthquake is a powerful and emotional song about the struggles of a troubled relationship. The singer's raw and honest lyrics convey the pain and frustration of being stuck in a situation where you feel powerless to make things better.

I'm not a real fan of pop, but this is just a great song. Little Boots masterpiece in my opinion. Nothing but respect for some girl starting out in her bedroom messing with Tenori's and going somewhere. Talented and beautiful.

As a BIG fan of Erasure, music with this sound, still gives me goosebumps. It's the perfect blend of melody, singing and machine noises. I wish there were more artists who sound like this.

Amazing Video with beautiful visuals, Vik is truly an amazing singer!
crap ton
she has to create a video that shows the meaning of the song, whats behind the lyrics . She doesn't need flash, fancy dance moves, she has enough talent to make all the singers on the top 5 charts in the US look pathetic already. keep up the good work and be yourself.
