Their first release was a double-A-side 7" single on Off The Wall (later signed to Peacefrog) that had two tracks: "Twice" and "Test".
Nagano was born and raised in Göteborg to a Japanese father and American mother. She grew up listening to American folk, but always had an affinity for R&B. Keyboardist Wirenstrand spent his childhood in Småland before moving to Göteborg where listened to a lot of Swedish folk music before getting into electronic music. Bodin grew up listening to early hip-hop and jazz. Fredrik was influenced by experimental, noise and electro house.
Nagano and Bodin play live with José González. Bodin also drums with Peps Perrson, a Swedish blues/reggae artist. Swedish electronic jazz duo Koop's albums Waltz for Koop and Koop Islands feature Yukimi Nagano's vocals on several tracks.
The band collaborated with Gorillaz on two tracks ("Empire Ants" and "To Binge") from their 2010 released album, Plastic Beach. Little Dragon also collaborated with Maximum Balloon (the solo project of David Andrew Sitek, producer and member of TV On the Radio), for one track entitled "If You Return". In 2011, the band's collaboration with SBTRKT on "Wildfire" was released as the lead single from his self-titled début LP.

I swing my hip like a dancer gone numb
I saw your shadow, saw the skeleton run
Now something's missing from my memory of you
You shake my world from my ground to my head
Distant noise that wake me out of bed
I listen as the walls cave in
I'm hanging on 'cause your memory's thin
I lost my grip, I balanced it on a piece of paper
True in one tip, it's weaving
And I wait for later
Who is leaning in on my yes to be?
Who is sneaking in, is sneaking in on me, on me?
I've cut a house in half and turn a frown distant
Painted walls and letters upside down
I try to hold on, I try to hold on but we gone
Then I try to let go but your memory's still on
I lost my grip, I balanced it on a piece of paper
True in one tip, it's weaving
And I wait for later
Who is leaning in on my yes to be?
Who is sneaking in, is sneaking in on me, on me?
On me, on my
The lyrics to Little Dragon's song Crystalfilm paint a vivid picture of the aftermath of a painful breakup. The opening lines describe a loss of control and lack of clarity, with the singer's "vision gone dull" and their body numb. They see a shadow and a skeleton, symbolic of the absence of the person they once loved. The chorus describes the way that memories of the relationship continue to haunt the singer, with the world shaking and walls caving in around them. They try to hold on, but ultimately they're unable to keep the relationship intact. The final lines suggest that they're still struggling to let go, even though they know they need to.
Throughout the song, the imagery and word choice create a sense of fragmentation and disorientation. The singer refers to cutting a house in half, painting walls upside down, and balancing their grip on a piece of paper. These lines suggest a sense of instability and confusion, as if the world has been turned upside down. The repeated refrain of "who is sneaking in on me" seems to suggest that the singer feels as if they're being watched or pursued by something they can't quite identify.
Overall, the lyrics to Crystalfilm capture the emotional turmoil of a relationship in its dying days. The singer is grappling with the pain of loss and the difficulty of letting go, while the world seems to be collapsing around them.

Lost my grip and my vision gone dull
I swing my hip like a dancer gone numb
I saw your shadow, saw the skeleton run
Now something’s missing from my memory of … you
You shake my world from my ground to my head
Distant noise that wake me out of bed
I listen as the walls cave in
I’m hanging on ’cause your memories spin on
I lost my grip, I balanced it on a piece of paper
True in one trip, it’s weaving in
And I wait for later
Who is leaning in on my yes to be?
Who is sneaking in, is sneaking in on me, on me?
I cut a house in half and turn a frown
Distant painted walls and letters upside down
I try to hold on, I try to hold on but you’re gone
Then I try to let go but your memory’s still on
I lost my grip, I balanced it on a piece of paper
True in one trip, it’s weaving in
