Send Me Some Lovin'
Little Richard Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Send it, I pray
How can I love you
When you're far away?
Oh, send me your picture
Send it, my dear
So I can hold it
Can you send me your kisses?
I still feel their touch
I need you so badly
I miss you so much
My days are so lonely
My nights are so blue
I'm here and I'm lonely
I'm waitin' for you
My days are so lonely
My nights are so blue
I'm here and I'm lonely
I'm waitin' for you
Little Richard’s song “Send Me Some Lovin” is all about longing and missing someone who is far away. The song starts off with the plea to send some love, to send it immediately as the distance is creating a disconnect between the singer and their loved one. The next line is an admission of the fact that it’s hard to love someone who is far away, suggesting that physical presence and intimacy is necessary for a relationship to thrive. The chorus repeats the call for love, asking for a picture that can be held onto and used to pretend that the long-distance partner is present.
The second verse is about the desire for physical contact, for the feeling of kisses. Even though the distance between the two is great, the memory of their touch lingers on. The singer expresses their desperation, saying they need their partner badly and miss them so much. The final verse repeats the loneliness and blue feelings described earlier, once again emphasizing the waiting for the missing partner.

Little Richard[Richard Penniman]would have been 89 today. He was one of the founders of R&R-not everything he did was at breakneck speed. This is from 1957.I can remember my mom driving me to grade school and me singing his songs. His band was called the Upsetters-how cool is that?
