Julie and Anthony are both correct. He was never underrated and you're using the term in the wrong context like SOOO many other youtube commenters. Whether it be a song/album/artist, movie/scene/actor, sports team/athlete...almost every video has a commenter saying it's underrated no matter how wildly popular or successful or highly regarded simply because there's not current worldwide buzz about it.

"Considered "The Architect of Rock and Roll".60's Rock, 70's pop, Glam rock, 80"s nu wave, you name it he was doing it in the Segregated 50's, Bowie, James Brown, Marc Bolan Boy George and too many more to list were inspired by this legend. Imagine 1955 if you will, Black dude, Whiteman haircut, lipstick, mascara and earings, singing about balling white women. His contributon to the music we listened to is impossible to measure, Rolling Stone magazine crowned hm The King AND Queen of Rock and Roll.Turn up the volume and listen to the energy in this, you'll not be sorry. My father sang in a wedding band in the 50's. He told me about the time he sang 16 Tons not a popular song for the occasion but they still liked it. He sang songs from the fifties and played guitar sitting in the kitchen all his life . Blue Suede Shoes , Green Green Grass of home were some others he sang. I love this music ,never gets old for me.
