The Girl Can't Help It
Little Richard and His Band Lyrics

She can't help it, the girl can't help it
She can't help it, the girl can't help it

If she walks by and the men folks get engrossed
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
If she winks an eye and bread slices turn to toast
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
If she's got a lot of what they call the most
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
The girl can't help it if she was born to please
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
And if she's got a figure made to squeeze
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
Won't you kindly be aware
The girl can't help it, the girl can't help it
If she mesmerizes ev'ry mother's son
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
If she smiles and beef steaks become well done
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
If she makes grandpa feel like twenty one
She can't help it, the girl can't help it

The Girl can't help it if she was born to please
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
And if I go to her on bended knees
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
Won't you kindly be aware, that I can't help it, I can't help it

Because I'm hopin' obviously
That someday the answer will be
The girl can't help it if she's in love with me
She can't help it, the girl can't help it

If she walks by and the menfolks get engrossed
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
If she winks an eye and bread slices turn to toast
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
If she's got a lot of what they call the most
She can't help it, the girl can't help it

The girl can't help it if she was born to please
She can't help it, the girl can't help it
And if she's got a figure made to squeeze
She can't help it, the girl can't help it

I'm hopin' obviously
That someday the answer will be
The girl can't help it if she's in love with me
She can't help it, the girl can't help it

Love this tune.. . Reminds me of Divine in Pink Flaningos.....

The Animals did a good cover of this in the mid 1960s.

Wasn’t the refrain of this song part of Fergi’s hit several years ago?

I'm amused that Bobby Troup who wrote Get Your Kicks on Route 66 wrote this! But the lyrics are clever and funny. I've like this song or record for several years.

His Wikipedia page filled in the basic info (they were married in '59), and IMDb is always the place to check for the list of songs heard in any movie.

They were not married yet? Interesting. When did they get married? Thanks again.

Jim Hilliker

@the45prof Ah ha! I didn't know he wrote other songs for this picture. I remember Julie in the movie, but didn't know her hubby had a part to play in the song she recorded. That all makes sense now. Thank you for the information.

Perhaps there was some connection between Troup's writing three songs for the film and the fact that his future wife Julie London also appeared on-screen singing her recent record hit "Cry Me A River" (which Troup had produced).
