Reminiscing
Little River Band Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Friday night it was late, I was walking you home
We got down to the gate, I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right?
How to tell you girl, I want to build my world around you
Wanna tell you that it's true
I wanna make you understand I'm talking about a lifetime plan

Well that's the way it began, we were hand-in-hand
Glen Miller's band was better than before
We yelled and screamed for more
And those Porter's tunes made us dance across the room
It ended all too soon
On the way back home I promised you'd never be alone

Hurry, don't be late
I can't hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark, walking through the park
And reminiscing

Friday night it was late, I was walking you home
We got down to the gate, I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right?
Now as the years roll on, each time we hear our favorite song
The memories come along
Older times we're missing, spending the hours reminiscing

Hurry, don't be late
I can't hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old

We'll go dancing in the dark, walking through the park
And reminiscing

John Farnham’s vocals are insane!! This is by far the best version of this song because of him!

@markchergosky1051

He's crazy good!

@kevind1931

He is only doing this so people forget about Shorrock and the original version. To over the top, just to try and out do the original.

@sehnaz1

No not as suave as Shorrock but who wants suave…??? Fred Collier

@drazenfx

I agree awesome singer

@voiceusa

@@kevind1931 WTH mate... John doesn't even think that way... he's sings that way because he can.. when you have a voice that is able to do an extreme amount, why would you settle for just singing the melody... different horses for different courses... if you watch Farnham getting interviewed by Roy & Hg, they ask him why he sings the way he does, and over the top... he answers it perfectly..'because he can'... it absolutely has nothing to do with competition... I'm so over this Farnham versus Shorrock debate... who cares, just enjoy both singers for what they do...

As much as everyone loves the vocals from John, what’s even more impressive is that the band had to take the song from its original key up a whole step to accommodate John’s range, and they all are perfect singing harmonies with him.

OMG This man is FANTASTIC! I dont get excited over vocalists too often but oly cow! His stage presence as well!

@shannonkuratli170

I said the same thing! His stage presence is just magnetic, and it can't be taught. As my momma used to say, (a singer, herself): "You either got it, or ya 'aint."
He's got it.

@@shannonkuratli170 yeah I’m impressed at his confidence. Makes him 10 times more attractive.
