Life Goes On
Little Texas Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sun comes up sun goes down
This ol' world keeps spinnin' around
Not much has changed since you been gone
I miss you honey but life goes on

It's nice to see
You still think about me
But don't worry about my heart
Thanks for the call
Yeah I took a fall
But I didn't fall apart

Sun comes up sun goes down
This ol' world keeps spinnin' around
Not much has changed since you been gone
I miss you honey but life goes on

You say you can tell
That I'm doin' well
By the sound of my voice
What'd you expect
Baby when you left
You left me no choice

Sun comes up sun goes down
This ol' world keeps spinnin' around
Not much has changed since you been gone
I miss you honey but life goes on

Thanks to you
Sayin' we're through
I've gotten good at gettin' by
I don't know when
But I'll love again
It's just a matter of time

Sun comes up sun goes down
This ol' world keeps spinnin' around
Not much has changed since you been gone
I miss you honey but life goes on

I miss you honey but life goes on
I miss you honey but life goes on

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Little Texas's song "Life Goes On" convey a message of resilience and moving forward after a break-up. The opening verse establishes the idea that the world keeps turning, regardless of the pain of having a loved one leave. The singer acknowledges that they miss their former partner but emphasizes that they are still able to function and take care of themselves. In the chorus, this idea is reiterated, emphasizing the world's ceaseless activity despite personal loss.

The second verse addresses a conversation with the former partner. The singer notes that their voice sounds good and that they are doing well, indicating that they have moved on successfully without their former partner. Although there is a suggestion of hurt thanks to the partner leaving, the singer says they "didn't fall apart" when they took a fall.

The final verse completes the theme of recovery, expressing that the singer has become skilled at moving on and that, while they do not know when or with whom, they will love again. The repeated line "I miss you honey but life goes on" underscores the central idea of the lyrics: while there may be heartache and longing, one must keep moving forward with life, as it continues with or without us.

You never really get "over it" you just learn to somehow live without them. Life truly does go on.

Not bad for a little band from New Jersey.

I like how this features clips from their previous videos, and who was the guy from the "Kick a Little" clip at 1:43 with the rubber chicken attached to him? He kind of looks like Chris Farley with a red cap on; that would've been hilarious if Chris starred in that video, but at the time of its release in 1994, he was busy with his career on "SNL", so it could've just possibly been a local actor

Catherine Hewitt

Dedicating this song to Mike O'Connor of Arizona
