I’m a musician and composer from northern Norway, currently living in Oslo. In 2020 i finished my degree in jazz and improvised music from the Norwegian Academy of Music, and since then I’ve been an active musician on the Norwegian scene. My main focus has been on my own projects, presented on this site, but I have also been lucky to play with so many great musicians, among others Ane Brun and Solveig Slettahjell. I have also written a lot of music the past years, both for big bands, woodwind trio, string orchestra and symphony orchestra. Improvisation is an important aspect of my music, and in my trio we always play without set list to make room for initiativ, creativity and improvisation in the moment. In February this year I had the honour to perform new music at the opening of Bodø24 - European capital of culture, written for my trio, three vocalists and full symphony orchestra. This, and releasing the album "Ville blomster" with my trio the same month, have been two of the highlights so far this year.

I'm Your Echo
Liv Andrea Hauge Ensemble Lyrics

Tell me what to say
And to believe in,
cause I am lost again
You don't know me
But I'm always near
Super easy I never disagree
In these lyrics from Liv Andrea Hauge Ensemble's song "I'm Your Echo," the singer conveys a sense of dependence and confusion in a relationship dynamic. The repeated refrain "I'm your echo" suggests a willingness to mirror the thoughts and words of another person, indicating a deep desire for guidance and direction. The request to "tell me what to say" reflects a loss of individual identity and autonomy, as the singer looks to the other person for validation and direction in their beliefs. By stating "I am lost again," the singer confesses to feeling adrift and uncertain, seeking reassurance and clarity from their counterpart.
The line "You don't know me, but I'm always near" hints at a one-sided relationship where the singer feels a close emotional connection to the other person, despite not feeling fully understood or seen by them. This sentiment of unreciprocated intimacy adds a layer of complexity to the dynamic, as the singer appears to be investing emotionally in someone who may not fully reciprocate their feelings. The assertion that it is "super easy" for the singer to comply and never disagree suggests a willingness to prioritize harmony and conformity in the relationship, even at the expense of their own individuality and beliefs.
Overall, these lyrics capture a sense of vulnerability and dependency, as the singer grapples with their own sense of self in relation to another person. The repetition of being an "echo" emphasizes the theme of mirroring and conformity, highlighting a desire for connection and validation from the other person. The contrast between feeling lost and always being near reveals a sense of paradox in the relationship, where the singer seeks closeness and validation while also feeling unseen and uncertain. The willingness to always agree and comply underscores a sense of submission and subjugation in the relationship, reflecting a desire for approval and belonging at the cost of personal agency and independence.

I'm your echo
I am constantly mirroring your thoughts and actions
Tell me what to say
Give me direction on what words to speak
And to believe in,
And guide me on what beliefs to hold
cause I am lost again
Because I feel confused and directionless
You don't know me
You are not familiar with my true self
But I'm always near
Despite that, I am constantly present
Super easy
It is effortless for me to conform to your wishes
I never disagree
I always agree with you, without any dissent
