Where lighter than your point of view
Oh and that claim for which you fought
Was only aloud to hear
Let this be the reason I should feel
I’m the only one with this point of view
Oh and that claim of your was real
Then once again
I’ll give in
To the spaces in between
Then once again
I’ll feel, Its allright
You must be blind not to see,
You’re the only one not to stay with me,
While this room is empty, and no-one cares,
that this fire still remains
Then once again
I’ll give in
To the spaces in between
Then once again
I’ll feel, Its allright
Then once again
I’ll give in
To the sound of this within
And once again
I’ll feel, It’s allright
The simple pages that you taught
Came to late, way late
Then once again
I’ll give in
To the spaces in between
Then once again
I’ll feel, It’s all right
And once again
I’ll give in
To the sound of this within
And once again
I will feel It’s all right
And once again
I will feel It’s all right
The lyrics of Livingston's song "Once Again" speak about the singer's personal struggles as they reminisce about the past and contemplate what they could have done differently. The simple pages that the singer had in mind were not enough to change the viewpoint of others. The singer reflects on the claim that they fought for, the belief that they held on to tightly, that turned out to be disappointing. Despite that, the singer wants to feel some sense of validation for their belief which they thought was their own unique perspective but it was too little too late. The phrase "Then once again, I'll give in, to the spaces in between, Then once again, I'll feel, It's all right" echoes throughout the song, providing the theme of the song of the singer immersing themselves in their thoughts and emotions and finding solace in their beliefs.
The second verse of the song mentions how the singer now feels left behind as the room they are in is empty and no one seems to care, yet they still hold on to the fire and passion that they once had. The phrase "Then once again, I'll give in, to the sound of this within, And once again, I will feel It's all right" encapsulates the idea that the singer will give in to their thoughts and emotions but in doing so, they will find peace or acceptance in their situation. The final verse mentions the idea that the pages that the singer had or the things that they learned came way too late, emphasizing the sense of missed opportunity and regret that the singer feels.
Overall, the song speaks of a struggle that many people can relate to, of feeling out of place, disappointed, and wanting to find validation for their beliefs. The song encourages the listener to give in to their emotions and thoughts, to immerse themselves in them, and ultimately find some sense of peace or acceptance.
