Face To Face
Livores Mortis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm standind in the real world of empty faces
Fossil features without expression

I'm standind face to face
I'm feeling face to face
I'm crawling face to face...

I'm not searching the answer
Why am I answering the question?

When days were nights?
Face to face...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Livores Mortis's song "Face to Face" seem to describe a sense of isolation and loneliness in a world full of people, where everyone's faces seem lifeless and devoid of emotion. The singer finds themselves standing among the crowd, but feels disconnected from the human experience. They use the metaphor of fossils to describe the people around them, suggesting that they are old and lifeless, lacking the spark of vitality that makes a person truly alive. The juxtaposition of the empty faces with the singer's repeated references to being "face to face" adds to the sense of alienation, as if the singer is trapped in their own headspace while the world around them continues on without them.

The line "I'm crawling face to face..." adds an additional layer to the song, as it implies that the singer has somehow been reduced to a state of physical or emotional vulnerability. The crawling motion suggests weakness or submission, and the repetition of "face to face" heightens the sense of intensity and intimacy. The final lines, "Why am I answering the question? / When days were nights?" introduce a note of nostalgia or regret, as if the singer is reflecting on a past time when their life was different - possibly happier or more fulfilling. Overall, the song feels like a heartfelt plea for connection and community in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming and uncaring.

I recently discovered my first dead body at work in July, (I work in elderly housing so not too uncommon) and the experience has been slightly traumatic. I think about it a lot. I can still smell the apartment.

Videos like these have been helping me deal with it. My friends/coworkers joke that I am turning into a psycho, but the science is really helping my mind digest what I saw.

Im glad to of helped inspire you. Yes absolutely it can totally be shocking when we experience death around us. It’s great that you’re finding ways to overcome and digest that moment. Hah, def not a psycho, It is when we acknowledge death as an inspiration to life we can find our authentic selves and live a more fulfilling existence.
Please feel free to share any curious video ideas that may continue to inspire you and others, as I may be able to make them.

love how the body has its own little clean up crew and process when we technically can’t do anything. all the cells and bacteria and etc just kick on in the right way and start the break down immediately.
it’s like we’re still alive after we’re dead, it’s so cool.

Are you 'avin a laugh? Is he 'avin a laugh?

the body constructs itself, then deconstructs itself.

Just out of curiosity, but how do traumatic injuries (like s*ic*de/wrecks/animal attacks/etc) effect these stages? Do they make it more difficult to identify time of death or does it not really have an effect?

I never would’ve thought I came to this point of research until around early February where tragedy struck when I found one of my roommates unresponsive in his bedroom. Long story short, he died of an overdose and more likely passed away two or three days before I found him that morning as, according to the medical examiner I spoke to, his body temperature was around 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Since then, it was a day I’ll never forget as I never experienced something traumatic.

Thank you for the video. Very educational. I worked EMS 14 years and it was a love/hate relationship. I teach medical pathways now, and trying to show these kids some real stuff is hard. This helped me explain rigor since we cant actually work with real patients. Haha. Thanks again. I subscribed because I'd like to see what else you teach.

My father passed away in late July and we didn’t find him until August 11. Thank you for these videos, my morbid curiosity needs to know everything about that horrifying scene to be able to really understand and process it.
