Lizz Wright Lyrics

I can almost taste you
I can´t face you
You´re still too strong
And it´s no surprise
I can´t erase you
I tried to replace you
´Cause seeds don´t crawl off the mountains
And they don´t fall
Fall from the tree
And they don´t drop
Not when you´re counting
Or maybe that´s my sweet philosophy
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Mmm ...
When I close my eyes
I dream about you
Tell me how to
Tell me how not to
Grab on to something new
I looked my fate past through
But instead I keep on holding on
I keep holding on
When I close my eyes
I think about you
I just can´t let you go
Oh, oh, oh, yeah
The lyrics to Lizz Wright's song When I Close My Eyes express a feeling of longing and pain after a romantic relationship has ended. The singer can't seem to move on from their former lover and when they close their eyes they are still haunted by thoughts of them. The first stanza describes the difficulty the singer has in dealing with the memories of their lover, as they are still too strong to ignore. The second stanza shows the singer's attempts to move on, but they have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement, as they have not been able to let go of their former lover.
The lines, "´Cause seeds don´t crawl off the mountains / And they don´t fall / Fall from the tree / And they don´t drop / Not when you´re counting / Or maybe that´s my sweet philosophy", suggest that the singer believes that true love is like a seed that can't be forced or controlled. It is something that grows naturally and cannot be rushed or replaced. The singer acknowledges that this may be a "sweet philosophy", but it is a belief that they hold onto even though it has not helped them move on.
Overall, the lyrics to When I Close My Eyes convey a deep sense of heartbreak and the difficulty of moving on from a former love. The singer is struggling to let go, and the haunting memories of their lover keep them from finding peace.
