Tell me do you love me too?
I'm confessin' that I need you
Honest I do
I need you every moment
In your eyes I read such strange things
But your lips deny they're true
Makin' me blue
I'm afraid someday you'll leave me
Sayin', "can we still be friends?"
If you go, you know you'll grieve me
All in life on you depends
Am I guessin' that you love me?
Dreamin' dreams of you in vain
I'm confessin' that I love you
Over and over again
I'm confessin' that I love you
Tell me do you love me too?
I'm confessin' that I need you
Honest I do
Oh oh oh
Honest I do
Ah ah ah
I need you
Lizz Wright's "I'm Confessin'" is a melancholic love song featuring the singer confessing her love for someone and expressing her fear of losing them. The repetition of the opening line "I'm confessin' that I love you" emphasizes the weight of her love and her need to express it. The following lines, "Tell me do you love me too?" and "I'm confessin' that I need you, Honest I do," show her vulnerability and desire for reciprocation.
The next lines provide contrast and conflict, with the singer reading "strange things" in the person's eyes and their lips denying it. This creates a sense of mistrust and uncertainty, leading her to ask if the person's answer will really change things. Despite this, the repetition of "I need you every moment" shows that she is willing to take the risk and continue to love them.
The last verse further emphasizes her fear of losing the person, with the line "I'm afraid someday you'll leave me, Sayin', 'can we still be friends?'" This fear reflects her dependency on the person, with "All in life on you depends." The final lines "Am I guessin' that you love me? Dreamin' dreams of you in vain, I'm confessin' that I love you, Over and over again" showcase the cyclical nature of her love and fears, with her continually confessing her love but unsure of the person's feelings.
Overall, "I'm Confessin'" is a heartfelt and introspective song that captures the complexities of love and dependency.
