He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 3, 1986, to Robin Polite and Lloyd Polite Sr. His father died when he was at the age of two, and he moved with his mother and older sister Brandy to Atlanta, Georgia.
Lloyd was discovered by Joyce Irby in 1996 and at the age of 14 was in the pre-teen group N-Toon, alongside younger brother Chuckie. The group won Nickelodeon's cancelled show Double Dare 2000 against No Authority, and the group was signed to DreamWorks Records. Although two singles were released ("Ready" and "Shoulda Been My Girl"), their debut album Toon Time went unnoticed due to a lack of promotion from the label. The group eventually disbanded, and Lloyd began shopping around for a solo deal. He was soon signed to MCA Records with his first single to be "Young Girl". Unfortunately, as MCA Records dissolved into its parent company, Geffen Records, many of the artists on its roster were let go, including Lloyd. However, using "Young Girl" as a demo, he landed a new recording contract with Irv Gotti at The Inc./Def Jam Records.
"Southside", a duet with label mate Ashanti, became Lloyd's debut single and an R&B hit. The video was number one on BET's 106 & Park, where Lloyd and Ashanti performed the song live. The follow-up single was "Hey Young Girl", which wasn't as successful as "Southside". His childhood friend Ciara was in the video, and he is in the video of her hit "1, 2 Step". Both singles appeared on his 2004 debut album, titled Southside, which performed relatively poorly. A third single was never announced. After that, Lloyd appeared singing hooks on singles for label mate Ja Rule on "Caught Up" as well as on rapper Tango Redd's "Let's Cheat". He also made an appearance in R&B singer Sammie's video "You Should Be My Girl".
In 2006, a newly-recorded track titled "You" surfaced, featuring Lil Wayne (an alternate version featured Tango Redd). The single gained airplay on BET Late and it was #1 on 106 & Park. Lloyd's second studio album, titled Street Love, was released on March 13, 2007. The second single "Get It Shawty" was also very successful, reaching the top twenty on the pop charts. By the time the third single "Player's Prayer" was released, interest in the album had diminished. and with lack of promotion the song proved to be unsuccessful.
Lloyd's third album Lessons in Love was released in August 2008. The song "How We Do It (Around My Way)" was promoted as a single in early 2008, but only appeared on select versions of the album. "Girls Around the World" was the next single, another collaboration with Lil Wayne.
Lloyd has made guest appearances on television shows, most notably on the hit show One On One, an episode of Wild 'N Out on June 21, 2007 and on a show called Gotti's Way on VH-1. In an interview Lloyd indicated that he has about twenty tattoos, which include a picture of his father, the logo of his company Young Goldie Music and a "rebel baby angel".
2. Lloyd was a Christian modern rock/pop group who blended vocals with acoustic and electric guitars. Lloyd was formed when two original members of the rock/funk/pop group "Imagine This" teamed up with a new guitarist (who also was with I.T. for a time) and bassist to form Lloyd. The name change is necessary as Lloyd strays quite a distance from the Imagine This.

that you were special
We come from two different worlds, girl, I know
But just 'cause I'm hood
It don't mean that I'm out here trying to get with every girl
I'm just looking for that someone who I can give the world
Please don't judge me, baby, look into my eyes
I ain't playing with you, no
Baby, your heart is safe with me (oh yes, it is)
Let me show you what love supposed to be
Girl I want to give you, all of this street love
I wanna give it, all of this street love,
Baby your heart is safe with me
Take all of my street love
Baby, I don't want to have to let go (let go)
Just let me hold you (hold you)
Your homies say I'm no good, I'm ghetto (ghetto)
But just 'cause I'm hood
It don't mean that I'm out here trying to get with every girl
I just looking for the someone who I could give the world
Please don't judge me, baby, look into my eyes
I ain't playing with you, no
Girl, I got to get you ooh
Baby, your heart is safe with me (Baby, your heart is safe with me)
Let me show you what love supposed to be (I want to show you love, I want to show you love)
Girl, I want to give you all of this street love (every little bit of it)
All of this street love (Baby, your heart)
Baby, your heart is safe with me (with me, with me)
Take all of my street love
Baby, don't you hold back
Don't you want to give it? (Just want to give you all my love)
Baby, don't you hold back
Don't you want to give it? (This is how I feel about you)
Baby, don't you hold back
Don't you want to give it? (Even though we come from two different worlds)
Baby, don't you hold back
Don't you want to give it? (There's something real about you)
Baby, don't you hold back
Don't you want to give it?
Baby, don't you hold back (Girl, don't be scared to follow your heart)
Don't you want to give it?
Baby, don't you hold back
Don't you want to give it? (I'll never ever hurt you)
Baby, don't you hold back
Don't you want to give it? (You deserve it, believe that)
Baby, your heart is safe with
Let me show you what love's supposed to be (I, girl, I just wanna give you)
Girl, I want to give you all of this street love (every little bit of it)
All of this street love,
Baby your heart is safe with me
Take all of my street love
Baby your heart is safe with
Let me show you what love's supposed to be
Girl, I want to give you all of this street love
All of this street love,
Baby your heart is safe with me
Take all of my street love
Lloyd's song "Street Love" is a testament to the singer's desire to transcend societal boundaries and give love to someone regardless of their background. The lyrics begin with Lloyd's straightforward admission of his attraction towards someone he's just met, and his understanding that they come from different worlds. Despite these differences, he assures the person that he's not just another guy looking for a fling, he's searching for someone he can give everything to. Lloyd urges the person not to judge him based on his appearance or background, and implores them to trust him and his feelings.
Throughout the song, Lloyd dives deeper into his belief that love should be blind to social classes and backgrounds, and he addresses the stereotypes that define him as a person from a rough neighborhood. Lloyd's bridge, "Don't you want to give it?", is where he makes his final plea for the person to take a chance on him, and not worry about the outside world affecting their relationship. The song's resounding message is that love is universal and exists beyond the societal boundaries that people may find themselves in.
One interesting fact about the song is that it was produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, who has worked with several of the music industry's biggest names including Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Janet Jackson. Additionally, "Street Love" was written by Lloyd himself, along with a team of songwriters including Rodney Jerkins, Adonis Shropshire, and Andre Merritt. The song is from Lloyd's third studio album "Lessons In Love", which was released in 2008. "Street Love" was released as the album's second single, following the success of the lead single "Girls Around The World".
Another fact is that the music video for "Street Love" was directed by Hype Williams, who has directed music videos for a variety of artists including Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and Missy Elliott. The music video features Lloyd singing in a city setting while visual effects play in the background. The video also includes appearances from Lloyd's friend and collaborator Lil Wayne, as well as the rapper Yung Joc.
"Street Love" was well-received by critics upon its release, with many praising Lloyd's vocal performance and the song's message. The song peaked at number eleven on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and number seventy-four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Chords: Unfortunately, the chords for "Street Love" are not available as the song relies mostly on electronic instrumentation.
