Perfect Blue
Lloyd Cole Lyrics

Should you awake dear from your beauty sleep
To find your room swimming in blue and green
Should you awake to feel like you'd never slept
And feel so very old well don't you feel alone
I'm kind of blue blue for you again
I guess i`m a fool at least I'm not innocent
But what to do whatever I touch turns blue
And should you find yourself lost but in no need of sympathy
Calm down to the beach and watch the waves come in
I dream the ocean was in my house
I feel the surf against my skin
But I just can't keep the waves from dragging me down
But when you say
Oh baby you're my best friend
Then I lose I lose my common sense
I'm kind of blue it's the truth
Should you awake dear from your beauty sleep
To find your room swimming in blue and green
Should you awake to feel like you'd never slept
And feel so very old
Well don't you feel alone
I'm kind of blue blue for you again
I guess I'm a fool at least I'm not innocent
But what to do whatever I touch turns blue
Blue for you again
I guess I'm a fool at least I'm not innocent
I may be blue but don't you let me make you blue
Too...

Another lyrically rich moody song with the catchy jangly guitar sound so typical of the time. Great stuff. God I miss this period and the quality music output.

I can perfectly remember the day I bought this album and listening to it over 30 times in the first 3-4 days.

So did I !

InParticularNobody

ahhhh pop from back when people read books. and had cassettes. and conversations.

Stephen Harris

This song comes so soon. You just want this album to go on forever and ever - and then "Perfect Blue" says it's the end. "Perfect Blue." That says it all.

TheMarlonDog

Super song!!!

RManFlint

@RManFlint Same with me. Lloyd's in my top 20. Probably top 10. I can't understand why some A&R guy couldn't figure it out. I turned at least 10 people on to Lloyd with Rattlesnakes and Easy Pieces. I guess Lloyd was the '80's answer to '70's Graham Parker. A great artist with a clueless record company.

The reason I have liked Lloyd Cole for so long is his Mellon Collie style makes me happy when I hear it !!

jehouse
