One Big Country Song
LoCash Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah, life is like a jukebox, just push play
Not everybody's first word sounds the same
But we all get born and we all get raised
Whether it's some boondocks or Marina Del Rey
Everybody turns wild when you're 16
Slow roll, big timin' on Main Street
Everybody's got holes in their blue jeans
If you bought 'em that way or not

Turn it up and sing along
We all work 'til the daylight's gone
We all knock off the edge around five
Fall in love from a kiss on Friday night
And we've all had a broken heart
We've all closed down a few good bars
Take a look around, y'all, tell me I'm wrong
Ain't the whole wide world just one big country song?
Just one big country song

Yeah, well who gon' try to find some water when it's hot?
(When it's hot)
Whether it's a pontoon, tube or a yacht (Yeah)
Who ain't got a dog that they love like a brother? (I do)
And who ain't ever tasted better cooking than their mother?

Who ain't got a story to tell?
And who ain't made it through some hell?
Who don't love somebody, don't miss somebody?
If you're down, sing it with somebody

Turn it up and sing along
We all work 'til the daylight's gone
We all knock off the edge around five
Fall in love from a kiss on Friday night
And we've all had a broken heart
We've all closed down a few good bars
Take a look around, y'all, tell me I'm wrong
Ain't the whole wide world just one big country song?
Yeah, it's just one big country song

Not everybody knows the words to "Mama Tried"
A city boy, country boy, yeah
We all just tryna survive
So raise 'em high

Turn it up and sing along
We all work 'til the daylight's gone
We all knock off the edge around five
Fall in love from a kiss on Friday night
And we've all had a broken heart
We've all closed down a few good bars
Take a look around, y'all, tell me I'm wrong
Ain't the whole wide world just one big country song?
It's just one big country song
Yeah, we all live in one big country song

Yeah, it's just one big country song

Overall Meaning

The song "One Big Country Song" by Locash is all about the idea that life is like a jukebox, and no matter where you go or who you are, everybody has a story to tell. The song highlights how different people have different lives, but at the same time, they all share a common experience, that is, the experience of living in this wonderful world; it's just one country song, and we are all a part of it. The lyrics reflect on how we all have a place we call home, whether it's some boondocks, the city, or Marina Del Rey, and how different experiences make us a unique combination.

The song emphasizes the commonality between everyone, as we all experience life's ups and downs, heartbreaks and happiness, and work hard to succeed. And no matter where we're from, what we do, or how much money we make, we all have one thing in common, that we are all part of one big country song. Whenever we feel down or lost, we need to play that song and realize that we're not alone. Overall, the song's attitude is that we should be grateful for the experiences we have, as they make us who we are, and we should embrace our differences and see the world through a collective lens.

Line by Line Meaning

Yeah, life is like a jukebox, just push play
Life is unpredictable, just like a jukebox where we never know what song will play next. We can't control everything in life, so we just have to go with the flow and see what comes our way.

Not everybody's first word sounds the same
We come from different backgrounds and cultures, so our first words may not be the same. Our differences make us unique and special.

But we all get born and we all get raised
Regardless of where we come from, every person is born and raised. This common experience brings us together as humans.

Whether it's some boondocks or Marina Del Rey
We all come from different places, whether it's a small town or a big city. Where we come from doesn't define who we are as people.

Everybody turns wild when you're 16
Being a teenager is a universal experience, and at 16, we all feel like we're invincible and can conquer the world.

Slow roll, big timin' on Main Street
Part of growing up involves taking risks and having new experiences. Whether it's cruising down Main Street or trying something new, we all have that desire to explore.

Everybody's got holes in their blue jeans
No one's perfect, and we all have flaws. Whether it's a physical flaw like a hole in your jeans or a personal flaw, we all have imperfections.

If you bought 'em that way or not
Some of our imperfections are things we were born with or can't change, while others are things we acquire along the way. Either way, we learn to accept and embrace our flaws.

Yeah, well who gon' try to find some water when it's hot?
When things get tough, we all try to find ways to make it better. It's a natural instinct to seek comfort and relief when we're in a difficult situation.

(When it's hot)
This is a continuation of the previous line, emphasizing the importance of finding water when it's hot outside.

Whether it's a pontoon, tube or a yacht (Yeah)
We all have different ways of enjoying ourselves and finding happiness, whether it's through a simple activity like floating on a pontoon or a luxurious vacation on a yacht.

Who ain't got a dog that they love like a brother? (I do)
Many of us have pets that we love and care for deeply, treating them like family. This deep affection for animals is a universal experience.

And who ain't ever tasted better cooking than their mother?
No matter where we come from, most of us have fond memories of our mother's cooking. It's a comforting thought that brings us back to our childhood.

Who ain't got a story to tell?
Everyone has a story to share, whether it's a happy memory or a difficult experience. Our stories make us who we are and connect us with others.

And who ain't made it through some hell?
Life is full of challenges and struggles, and we've all been through tough times. These experiences make us stronger and bring us closer to those who have gone through similar situations.

Who don't love somebody, don't miss somebody?
We all have loved ones that we care for deeply, whether it's family, friends, or romantic partners. It's a universal feeling to miss someone we love when they're not around.

If you're down, sing it with somebody
When we're feeling down or going through a tough time, it's important to lean on others for support. Sharing our feelings and experiences with others can help us feel better and less alone.

Not everybody knows the words to "Mama Tried"
We all have different experiences and preferences, and not everyone knows the same things. It's okay to not be familiar with something that's popular in a certain culture or community.

A city boy, country boy, yeah
We come from different backgrounds and lifestyles, whether it's growing up in the city or the countryside. These differences add diversity to our world.

We all just tryna survive
Life can be tough, and we're all just trying to make it through the day. Whether it's dealing with work, finances, or personal issues, we all have our struggles.

So raise 'em high
Despite our differences and challenges, we can all come together and celebrate life. We should take a moment to appreciate the good things in our lives and hold onto hope for the future.

Ain't the whole wide world just one big country song?
This line refers to the idea that despite our differences, we all share a common human experience. Life is like one big country song, full of heartache and joy, love and loss, and everything in between.
