Logar's Diary is a six-pie… Read Full Bio ↴Fantasy Power Metal from Berlin / Germany
Logar's Diary is a six-piece. All the band's music is dealing with the adventures of the magician Logar in the Earthdawn universe (Earthdawn is a famous role-playing-game). Logar wrote down his quests and found some bards who wrote the music for his lyrics.
So Logar´s Diary is a 100% concept band and every single album is a story on its own.
The idea of the band was born in spring 1998. After the musicians had finished the songwriting in 1999 they recorded the first chapter of the story, until winter 2000 at Goblins & Gnomes studio. "Book I" was released as a demo-CD in April 2001, completely financed by the band itself. The reactions were pretty good and Logar had the opportunity to choose between several record-deal offerings. Finally, they signed at Metal Fortress Entertainment (MFE) where the second CD was released.
The recording of the CD- "Book 2: Parlainth - The Forgotten City" - was finished in 2004, but due to business problems and the replacement of the drummer the CD release was delayed several times.
At the end of 2006 the first pressing of "Book II" (digipack) was sold out, but you can take part at the whole story again, cause "Book II" is available again as jewelcase. You can order it directly at Logar's Diary: www.logar.org
The journey continues... The band is starting to work on the concept of "Book III" these weeks.

essential base of everything - in that time a land was growing which extended from the
Wyrm Woods to the Death's Sea and from the Wastes to the dwarven kingdom Throal. Its
name was Barsaive.
For almost everything magic was used and so the magical level rose up more and more.
Then, as it reached its highest level - the unholy dark came on earth. The shroud of
madness. The prophecy came true. Humanity hid in their Kaers which they built to escape
behind. The horrors invented strange techniques to enter the Kaers. Their thirst for blood
was unquenchable. Often they possessed the mentally weak to lead their fellows to death.
And so it was for 500 years.
When the horrors left earth back to their dimension, mankind began to open the Kaers and
rebuilt the cities. Barsaive thrived in old beautiness. It took about a hundred years to
restore it.
And this is where the story takes place...
...in the age of Earthdawn
Logar's Diary's song Earthdawn begins by painting a picture of a time long ago, where steel was necessary for survival and magic was a tangible force that allowed people to see beyond the physical world. In this time, a land called Barsaive emerged, stretching from the Wyrm Woods to the Death's Sea and from the Wastes to the dwarven kingdom Throal. Magic was integral to every aspect of life in Barsaive, causing the magical level to continue to rise until the unholy dark fell upon the land, bringing with it a shroud of madness.
The prophecy of this dark time came true as humanity retreated into underground Kaers in order to escape the devastation brought forth by the dark. The land was ravaged by a devastating plague that left death and ruin behind, and the horrors invented strange techniques to enter the Kaers and quench their thirst for blood. Often, they would possess the mentally weak in order to bring about the demise of their fellow humans. This continued for 500 years until the horrors finally left earth back to their own dimension.
After the horrors had left, mankind began to emerge from the Kaers and rebuild the cities. Barsaive slowly returned to its former beauty, although it took nearly one hundred years for the land to be completely restored. The story of Earthdawn takes place in this restored world, where humanity is learning to thrive again. Overall, the song is a powerful tale of resilience and perseverance in the face of tremendous darkness and hardship, and reminds us that even in our darkest moments, hope and restoration can still be found.

This is song is by far my favourite of the first album.
The melody hits something deep inside, I've listened to it dozen and dozen of times! (when the choir adds up to the singer... :3)
