Lokua Kanza was born Pascal Lokua Kanza in 1958 in Bukavu, in the province of Kivu, in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is the eldest of eight children, with a Mongo father and a Tutsi mother from Rwanda. In 1964, the family went to live in Kinshasa (Congo's capital) in a middle class area, until the day when Pascal's father, a ship's captain, died. His mother then moved to a much poorer area of the city, and Lokua, the eldest, had to work to feed the family. He therefore went to school part time, and took odd jobs, as well as singing in churches. Lokua Kanza sings in French, Lingala, and English.

Beugel amne
No pnale
Ndar adina
Wa ouh wa ouh wa ouh
Wa ouh wa ouh wa ouh
Mupenzi wangu
Ana enda
Paka na matshozi
Tell me now
What I am gonna do
All my desire
To be with you
Juste un peu d'amour
Juste un peu d'amour
Juste un peu d'amour
Juste un peu d'amour
I don't know why
Why I cry
It's like a bad dream
You let me down
Mupenzi wangu
Ana enda
Miye na bakiya
Paka na matshozi
Tell me now
What I am gonna do
All my desire
To be with you
Juste un peu d'amour
Juste un peu d'amour
Juste un peu d'amour
Juste un peu d'amour
The lyrics of Lokua Kanza's song "Juste un peu d'amour" express the singer's longing for his lover who has left him. The song is written in Lingala, a language spoken in Central Africa, Congo, and Angola. The opening lines "Xole nale, Beugel amne, No pnale, Ndar adina" are difficult to interpret as they do not have a clear meaning. However, the next lines "Mupenzi wangu, Ana enda, Miye na bakiya, Paka na matshozi" translate to "My love, she has gone, I'm left alone, shedding tears." These lines make it clear that the song is about heartbreak and a lost love.
The chorus of the song repeatedly asks for "just a little love" ("Juste un peu d'amour") which shows that the singer is not asking for a grand gesture or a great deal of love, but just enough to make him feel loved and appreciated. The verses of the song describe the pain and disappointment the singer feels after his lover leaves him, and he is left with no answers to his questions. The lines "I don't know why, why I cry, it's like a bad dream, you let me down" express the confusion and hurt the singer is experiencing.
Overall, the lyrics of "Juste un peu d'amour" are about the experience of love and heartbreak. The song expresses how love can make a person feel complete and fulfilled but can also leave them feeling hollow and empty when it ends.
