Days To Come
Lola Marsh Lyrics

Free like daisies
In the sun
We used to sit back and wonder
About tomorrow
And the days to come
And the days to come
When you find me, no matter side
You used to sit and ponder
About tomorrow
And the days to come
And the days to come
Time slowly flies
Want to grow older with you
To be your one reason
Cold winters night
You keep singing it wrong
And all my sunflowers are gone
Broken strings are still playing along
Broken strings are still playing along
Finally, we're done
But the flying beasts are always on the run
As they filled up their hunger
They keep on moving
Nowhere to be found
Nowhere to be found
Time slowly flies,
Want to grow older with you
To be your one reason
Cold winter's night
You keep singing it wrong
And all my sunflowers are gone
Broken strings are still playing along
Time slowly flies
Want to grow older with you
To be your one reason
Cold winter's night
You keep singing it wrong
And all my sunflowers are gone
Broken strings are still playing along
Broken strings are still playing along
Broken strings are still playing our song
In Lola Marsh's song "Days to Come," the lyrics describe a sense of freedom and wonder that comes with youth. The first stanza talks about the carefree attitude of the past, where the singer and their companions loved to run free and enjoy the sunshine. They would sit around and ponder about the future, wondering what tomorrow and the coming days would hold. The second stanza continues with the theme of being open-minded and willing to explore what's ahead. The singer is eager to grow old with their loved one, to be their one reason for living, even on a cold winter's night.
The chorus repeats the idea that time slowly flies, and they want to spend the years to come by the side of their loved one. The singer is aware that they keep singing the song wrong, and that all their sunflowers are gone. The image of sunflowers is often associated with youth, joy, and happiness. It’s probably a reference to how everything feels perfect when we are young, but it changes as we grow older. Nonetheless, they keep on singing their song despite the broken strings, playing it along.
In the final stanza, the singer reflects on the fact that everything good must come to an end. The flying beasts (referencing birds) are always on the run, filling up their hunger, and keep on moving, such is life. There is nowhere to be found, neither the flying beasts nor the past. Nonetheless, they keep on singing their song, even with the broken strings, because that is all they have left.
Overall, "Days to Come" is a reflection of the beautiful moments we have in our youth, and the many uncertainties that come with age. The song encourages us to cherish each moment we have and to keep moving forward, even when things seem difficult or uncertain.
