Just One Second
London Elektricity Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The city’s beautiful
In the early morning air
Love the smell of sunrise
And everything becomes so clear

I think you are beautiful
And you know it by one look
Did you long for summertime
When you were growing up

And when it finally came
It wasn’t round for long
You ecstatically stumbled around
One warm second and suddenly gone

One warm second and suddenly gone

I wish that time would stand still
If this was part of a film
We would watch the clip all day
Like a portrait of you and I

Like a portrait of you and I

The city’s beautiful
In the early morning air
Love the smell of sunrise
And everything becomes so clear

I think you are beautiful
And you know it by one look
Did you long for summertime
When you were growing up

When your life’s just a breeze in eternity
Why not take this one chance and come fly with me
Just this once
Just this second that soon will be gone

If this second was your life - what would you do?
If this second was your life - I would love you
If this second was your life - would you love it?

If this second was my life - I would love it
If this second was my life - I would love you
If this second was my life - I would happily die

The city’s beautiful
In the early morning air
Love the smell of sunrise
And everything becomes so clear

I don’t have to look to see
Today it’s all so clear

Chimney tops start to glow
And that’s when I will disappear...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of London Elektricity's song Just One Second speak of the beauty of the city in the early morning air and the clarity it can bring. It also talks about the beauty of a person that can be seen in just one look. The song addresses the fleeting nature of moments of happiness, like summertime, that come and go so quickly. The lyrics urge the listener to live in the moment and appreciate every second, even if it's just for a brief time.

The chorus of the song expresses a desire for time to stand still, for a moment to last forever, like a portrait of two people in love. The lyrics then suggest that life is like a brief moment in eternity and that one should take the chance to fly and appreciate every second. The song ends with a sense of acceptance that even as the city's chimney tops begin to glow, it's time to disappear from the moment.

Amo essa música, tanta nostalgia, tanto sentimento. Obra de arte. 🥰

I can't believe it took me a decade to hear the original version of this, having imprinted the Apex remix onto my brain over that time. Discovering it now, the pared-back, almost non-EDM sound with seemingly just real instruments doing all the heavy lifting without loads of effects on each of them, it's a breath of fresh air that feels innocent in a way which totally suits the lyrics. The remix is euphoric, but this feels pure and blissfully uncomplicated, like two lovers in a speeding convertible escaping their problems in the sunshine for only the length of the song. I wish my life felt like this song.

Same. Tony is the master of that raw instrumentation. Everything is paced perfectly. Check out the live performance of "I Remember the Future" if you want to see the shit in action!
