Singer Hannah Reid (born on 30 December 1989) and guitarist Dan Rothman met in the dorms of Nottingham University where they began writing music together in 2009. They later added multi-instrumentalist Dot Major to complete the London Grammar line-up.
Their popularity rose with the 2012 release of "Hey Now" which they uploaded to the internet and instantly found an online cult following. Their self-released 2013 debut EP "Metal & Dust" reached the Top 5 of the iTunes chart. The same year they signed to Ministry of Sound and the single "Wasting My Young Years" appeared as the first release on the label. 2013 also saw them play a sold-out show at the Islington Assembly Hall and make an appearance at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton.
"Strong" was the next single extracted from the album "If You Wait", released on September 9th, 2013.
The band's album "Truth Is a Beautiful Thing" was released on 9 June 2017.
On 19 August 2020, London Grammar released “Baby It's You,” their first single since 2017.

Oh Woman Oh Man
London Grammar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It should not mean that much to me
And I don't know where the rest go
But everybody's been telling me no
But I'll always have a thing for you
I'd move the earth
But nothing made you want me better
But steal the moon
But nothing made you want me better
Oh woman oh man
Choose a path for a child
Great mirrored plans
Oh woman oh man
Take a devil by the hands through
Yellow sands
And I can see that you're giving up
So tell me it should not mean this much to me
And I don't know where the rest goes
Everybody's been telling me no
But I'll always have a thing for you
I'd move the earth
But nothing made you want me better
There is nothing I can do
But steal the moon
And nothing made you want me better
Oh woman oh man
Choose a path for a child
Great mirrored plans
Oh woman oh man
Take a devil by the hands through
Yellow sands
Woman choose your man
Woman who understands
Do you really understand?
Do you really understand?
Do you really understand?
Oh woman oh man
Choose a path for a child
Great mirrored plans
Oh woman oh man
Take a devil by the hands through
Yellow sands
(Oh woman, oh man) Woman choose your man
(Oh woman, oh man) Woman who understands
Do you really understand?
Do you really understand?
The song "Oh Woman Oh Man" by London Grammar speaks to the complexities and challenges of relationships. The lyrics portray a sense of longing and frustration, with the singer acknowledging that the person they desire is giving up on them. The repetition of the phrase "It should not mean that much to me" suggests that the singer is trying to convince themselves that they don't care, even though it's clear they do. The line "But everybody's been telling me no" suggests that the singer has faced opposition from others, possibly friends or family, who don't approve of their relationship.
Despite this, the singer admits that they will always have a "thing" for the person they desire and that they would do anything to make them want them better. The chorus, which repeats the phrase "Oh woman oh man" several times, suggests that the singer is addressing both genders and the universal struggles of relationships. The call to "choose a path for a child" and the mention of "great mirrored plans" could suggest that the relationship is at a turning point, with the singer urging their partner to make a commitment or decision about their future together.
Overall, the lyrics of "Oh Woman Oh Man" are open to interpretation, but they effectively convey the complicated emotions and uncertainties that often accompany romantic relationships.

Try a bit of Trixie Whitley too- if you like one gorgeous contralto, there might be room in your heart for another. Check out Breathe You in my Dreams; you won't regret it.
