Fun fact: There's no cgi in this scene, the crew just hopped on a short flight to australia and filmed Elijah fighting some of the local wildlife.

If you think this is stressful, just read the book version. Sam is actually here for all of it. Gollum leads them into the lair and disappears. They have to use the Phial of Galadriel and a sword to cut through the webs as Shelob is stalking them. They know something is after them. They don’t know what. When they finally see her, it’s described as something really horrific. Sam gets ahead of Frodo and Shelobs cuts them off. As Sam is going back he gets jumped by Gollum who taunts Sam about how they’re the hobbits are going to die. They fight for a long time. By the time Sam fights off Gollum, Frodo is unconscious and wrapped up, Shelob is dragging him away. Sam charges back to attack Shelob and Tolkien says, “No onslaught more fierce was ever seen in the savage world of beasts… almost before she was aware that a fury was upon her greater than any she had known in countless years, the shining sword bit upon her foot and shore away the claw.”

The version of this in the book is so intense it’s almost like you’re not reading it, it’s like you’re there.
