Rattlesnakes
Lonely The Brave Lyrics

through the last page
of our story
But there's rattlesnakes
on the small of the ledge
There's rattlesnakes
of the fall of the edge
Man put your teeth away
If we keep coming up enemies
Then I'll just keep spoiling your day
But there's rattlesnakes
on the small of the ledge
There's rattlesnakes
of the fall of the edge
So be on your way, all the way
cause your eyes ain't liking me
So be on your way, all the way
cause your eyes ain't liking me
To the rocks
keep us safe
keep us up
To the rocks
keep us safe
keep us up
Cause someday
we'll go walking
through the last page
of our story
But there's rattlesnakes
on the small of the ledge
There's rattlesnakes
of the fall of the edge
The lyrics to Lonely the Brave's song Rattlesnakes is a powerful and introspective reflection on the inevitability of death and the struggles that one might face in their final moments. The imagery of "walking through the last page of our story" represents the end of one's life and the closure that might come with it. However, the mention of rattlesnakes on the small and fall of the ledge introduces the element of danger and uncertainty that one might face in their final moments. Despite the risk of danger, the singer encourages the other person to keep moving forward and stay away from the danger so that they can witness the last page of their story together.
The line "Man put your teeth away cause this ain't the time or place" is a call to put aside one's ego and focus on what's important - life and death. The singer acknowledges the tension between the two and offers to spoil the other person's day to ease their fears. The repeated lines "So be on your way, all the way cause your eyes ain't liking me" reflects the singer's realization that not everyone might be able to handle the danger that comes with facing death.

Someday we'll go walking
At some point in time, we will walk
through the last page
We will walk to the end of our story
of our story
The story of our lives
But there's rattlesnakes
However, there are dangers
on the small of the ledge
These dangers are present on a narrow path
There's rattlesnakes
The dangers are real
of the fall of the edge
There is a risk of falling
Man put your teeth away
Control your aggression
cause this ain't the time or place
This is not the right time or situation for conflict
If we keep coming up enemies
If we continue to be adversaries
Then I'll just keep spoiling your day
I will make things difficult for you
So be on your way, all the way
Leave completely
cause your eyes ain't liking me
Because you are not fond of me
To the rocks
Seek refuge in the rocks
keep us safe
Protect us from harm
keep us up
Keep us from falling
Cause someday
Because at some point
we'll go walking
We will walk
through the last page
To the end of our story
of our story
The story of our lives
But there's rattlesnakes
However, there are still dangers
on the small of the ledge
On the narrow path we must traverse
There's rattlesnakes
These dangers are real
of the fall of the edge
We must be cautious not to fall
