The song is about a couple whose love has faded away. The first verse highlights a lack of tenderness and love from the subject’s partner. The singer laments about how something beautiful is dying, and it makes them feel like crying. The chorus then sets in, and we see that the subject has lost that loving feeling. The second verse speaks of how the partner has started criticizing everything that the singer does, and it hurts them deeply. They do not want to show it, but the singer knows deep down that the love is gone.
The bridge then sees the singer pleading with their partner to bring back the love that they shared before. They ask their partner to love them like they once did, saying that they have a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love, and begs them not to throw it away. The song ends with the singer repeating the chorus, but with the addition of “bring back that loving feeling” before it.
