Do You Remember
Long Tall Ernie & The Shakers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Think of all the stars form the fifty’s scene
Jukebox heroes and all the screams
Buddy Holly and Peggy Sue
Ricky Nelson got his Mary Lou
Do you remember, do you remember

There were Don and Phil when they sang Bird Dog
Buona Sera Senorita – Rock around the clock
Little Richard and Bobby Rydell
Elvis Presley at Heartbrak Hotel
Do you remember, do you remember, do you remember

Lucille, you don’t do your daddy’s will
Lucille, you don’t do your daddy’s will
There ain’t nothing to you but I love you still

Johnny is a joker – he’s a bird
A very funny joker – he’s a bird
But when he jokes my honey – he’s a dog
His joking ain’t so funny – what a dog
Johnny is a joker as he tries to steal my baby – he’s a bird dog

I’m a walking in the rain
To the falling and I feel the pain
Wishing you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder – wah wah wah wah wonder
Why, why, why, why, why, why she ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway

I’m like a rubber ball sang Bobby Vee
Whole lotta shakin’ played Jerry Lee
I’m so young and you’re so old
That was what Paul Anka told
Do you remember, do you remember, do you remember

He likes bread and butter
He likes toast and jam
That’s what his baby feeds him
He’s her lovin’ man
Well, I like bread and butter
I like toast and jam
That’s what my baby feeds me
And I’m her lovin’ man

Well, that’s allright mama
That’s allright by you
That’s allright mama
Just anyway you do me
That’s allright, that’s allright
That’s allright mama anyway you do

Saturday night and I just got paid
Fool about my money don’t try to save
My heart says go, go, have a time
Saturday night, baby I feel fine
I’m gonna rock it up
I’m gonna rip it up
I’m gonna shake it up
I’m gonna bop it up
I’m gonna rock it up
Have a ball tonight

Jenny, Jenny, Jenny won’t you come along with me
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny won’t you come along with me
You know that I love you
We could live so happily

Ooit was ik 17 jaar oud, beetje jonger dan nu.
Toen een concert bijgewoond van Long Tall Ernie & his Shakers.
Lekker toch?
