Passion, heart and energy.” That’s what Longshot strives for in their music. The band started in May 2010 after a couple of established local bands merged to create something different from the immense amount of Hardcore and Metal bands that seemed to be flooding the music scene. They quickly grew to become a well respected band in the Ontario hardcore scene and spent their first summer as a band playing shows all over Ontario. Longshot have been praised for reviving the hardcore scene and seemed to have inspired a new age of hardcore music within their local scene. Energy; this word can be used to explain what the band strives for, putting on a very energetic and memorable live performance. Longshot's live sets can be explained as dangerous yet one of the most positive places to be. They're first show as a band was with a member of the Sumerian Records roster, Stray From The Path. This really helped shaped the bands career as they went on to play with many notable bands including Shai Hulud, Lionheart, My Children My Bride, It Prevails, Counterparts and Betrayal to name a few. The band continues to work very hard and impress people in every town they visit. Freshly returning from an Ontario tour with Uplift, Longshot has now had a taste of touring and does not plan to stop there with a Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan tour coming up and plans to go to the United States in the summer. Longshot intends to remain a force to be reckoned within the underground hardcore scene.

2) Based out of Southeastern Massachusetts, LONGSHOT is exploding onto the scene with the release of the Realignment EP. The band is touring hard all over New England in support of it- garnering an incredible reaction at every show and developing a reputation for an intense and energetic live performance. Intelligent lyrics and a positive outlook set LONGSHOT apart from many “tough guy” hardcore acts, following in the footsteps of bands like Bane and Have Heart. Passionately delivering their positive message, LONGSHOT has hit hard and shows no signs of stopping.
3) Born in ’79 on Chicago’s south side and inspired by artists like Tupac, Al Green, Redman, and Jim Morrison, Chad Heslup, a.k.a. LongShot, first published “Scream of the Butterfly,” a book of poetry, in ’99 followed by a 12" with DJ Anomaly entitled “Happiness is Hard to Find” in ’02. These releases paved the way for his debut album “Open Mouths Fed” and vinyl 12" single "Pretty Brown Skin" in '03. His sophmore album "Sacrifice" came out on Molemen Records in '04, along with his third single "Never Go Slow." His motivation and drive to succeed as an artist defy the name "LongShot."
The oldest of six siblings, LongShot and his family moved throughout his childhood from Oakland, California to Fort Worth, TX, and back to Chicago. Eventually, the family was split up by DCFS and LongShot moved to a group home. His life experiences in the streets of America struggling to be a role model for his brothers and sisters are the main themes and inspirations for his lyrics; his honest and potent delivery is accessible to listeners of any musical genre.
4) Rock band from Porvoo, Finland. Active 2004-2005.
Members: Sointu, Junde, Jare, Janmu, Emilia. Released one self-published EP in 2005 with 6 tracks.
5) "LONGSHOT" is the brainchild of the French keyboardist John Cleese, who since 1988 has been playing keys and/or making backing vocals in different bands such as HARLEQUIN, BADGE and MURPHY'S LAW, MAELSTROM, etc, plus solo projects as multi-instrumentalist.
As a confessed fan of GENESIS and SUPERTRAMP he has always felt close to Progressive Rock, but the discovery of MARILLION made him give that extra footstep towards Neo Prog.
In the late 90's he read a Sci Fi novel by Thierry Guilleminot and decided to release a trilogy based in the book, so in 1997 he recruits the former TROLL drummer Michael Altmayer and in the same year releases, "The Cosmic Bacteria's Experiences" which has a strong Genesis connection, with the melody of CAMEL but circumscribed to Neo Prog.
In the year 2002 now with a full lineup that includes Michael Reese (Keyboards & Backing Vocals), Phil Wake (Guitars & Backing Vocals). Freddy Lynn (Bass & Double Bass) plus Ben Larson in Drums & percussion; LONGSHOT releases "Assylum" the second part of the trilogy, again with strong GENESIS influence but closer to Symphonic.
The third part of the trilogy was announced for 2007 and already had a name "Armaggedon", but still we don't see it, but the pre orders are made in their new web site, so hopefully we'll see the culmination of the work this year.
Great band in the border of Neo Prog and Symphonic, combines complex arrangements, radical changes and soft melodies, deserves to be listened.

I'm ready whenever you are
[1: Modill]
I need a little bit of space man (where I stay always lifted)
The special ed down the hall just past the gifted
Honor roll class, feelin proud to roll past like
Why y'all accept the shit, that's way beyond me
Ain't no way that they ever gon' sway beyond we
Beyond belief, no receipt man, no repeat man
After burnin your brain, that's permanently engrained
Branded like ran into the coals - you smell smoke?
Pitch overhead and your standards are old - I smell joke
Sucker stranded in your life called professional piles
Stand up in this life and smile like vegetable style
A while back since, confess, bent his face a while
Hell yeah we session
Modill, E.V., LongShot, believe me
Be on Alpha Centauri, and that's fo' sheezy
[Chorus x2: Modill]
Gimme a blunt and a fat sack of space
Gimme a stunt and a fat back with face
Gimme a brew, a vitamin C pill
Fuck it spark the cypher, fat beats and then we chill (I need space)
[LongShot:]
Back it up, ask a buck who fly
And the young'n super quick throw a L in the sky
Ready to die, ready to fly, ready to fry
Fuck a fake Kentucky Jacob gimme space when I rhyme
High, like I never blew a day in my life
Provin to make it you gotta move it and shake it like dice
Break you like ice cause these bitches gon' front
Know they only respect your lyrics nigga when you stunt (what?)
Ain't nobody off the face like me
I'm from outer space, that's why I flash a fake ID
Vocals, choke you, quote you to death with bars
Yes you are the next square to get bruised hard
[2: Modill]
Space, whaddayou say, like five feet? That's the regular?
We grown men wavin mic stands as sceptres
Somewhere far beyond your galaxy range
But closer to the core, Midwest home of the plains
Look out, we transmit pristine
I know you love the way the frequency sound all crystal and clean
We be off - we blast haters, Shot got phasers
Davis spit razors, race car he the major
The trinity's born, you lost and amazed
Ignore me now, after life you probably tune in the grave
Shit, we tryin to spread our wings while y'all flap the same crap
We advance, Long style and the green is good
The song "Space" by Longshot featuring Modill is a thought-provoking piece that is open to multiple interpretations. The lyrics touch on themes of individuality, innovation, and the desire for freedom in a society that can feel stifling. Modill's verse deals with the need for "space," both metaphorically and literally. He wants to break out of the narrow confines of his environment and escape to a place where he can express himself freely. He believes that society's standards hold everyone back and prevent them from reaching their full potential. Modill's lyrics suggest that he wants to reach a level of creative inspiration that transcends the mundaneness of his existence.
Longshot's verse is a call to action for the listener to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their dreams. He references his extraterrestrial origins as a humorous way to challenge the conformity of society. Longshot asserts that success can only be achieved by moving to the beat of our own drum instead of trying to fit in with the crowd. “Space” seems to encourage individuality, and self-expression as the paths toward a fulfilled life.

5:29 how can you have ‘real time communication’ when it takes light 12.5 mins (on average, depending on Mars’ orbital distance) to reach either end of the communications? Unless, they’ve found a way to implement communications via quantum entanglement?! Good VFX though!
