Longwave followed up on the success of The Strangest Things by entering the studio in 2004 with famed producer John Leckie, whose work with Radiohead and Pink Floyd endeared him to the critical taste of the band, and There’s a Fire was released in 2005.
With a return to the studio planned for late 2007, Longwave found itself on the list of indispensable listening for the first part of this millennium. Expect them to stay there. Longwave's latest album, Secrets are Sinister, was released in November 2008 on Original Signal Recordings.
Heart Attack

Nothing in the end that can't be shown
It all comes back to this
And the feeling doesn't stay
It doesn't matter if it's fast or slow
It all comes back to this
Always takes me back
In a heart attack
There's nothing now that's still the same
The neon and the pinprick in the vein
Moving through your blood
And you can tell it leaves a trace
And always when you wipe away the stain
It all comes back to this
Always fills the cracks
Always pulls me under
In a heart attack
There's nothing now that isn't known
Nothing in the end that can't be shown
It all comes back to this
And everything begins in white
But it doesn't matter if it's fast or slow
It all comes back to this
Always ends in black
Always pulls me under
In a heart attack
The lyrics of Longwave's song "Heart Attack" are somewhat abstract, but they seem to be expressing the idea that there are certain universal experiences that we all share, no matter how different our individual lives might be. The lines "There's nothing now that isn't known / Nothing in the end that can't be shown" suggest that everything important about life and human nature has already been revealed or discovered. The repetition of the phrase "It all comes back to this" reinforces the idea that there are fundamental truths that underlie all of human experience.
The image of a heart attack is used throughout the song as a metaphor for these universal experiences. A heart attack is a chaotic and intense event that can strike anyone, no matter how healthy or young they might be. Similarly, the lyrics seem to be saying that there are certain emotional or psychological events that can hit us unexpectedly and overwhelm us, no matter how stable or secure we might feel. The lines "Always takes me back / Always pulls me under" suggest that these experiences are often difficult or painful to endure, but they are also inescapable and inevitable.
Overall, the lyrics of "Heart Attack" seem to be exploring the idea that there are certain universal truths about the human experience that we all have to confront, no matter how much we try to avoid them or suppress them. The image of a heart attack is a powerful symbol for these truths, expressing the idea that our emotional and psychological states can be just as sudden and catastrophic as any physical illness or injury.
