Longwave followed up on the success of The Strangest Things by entering the studio in 2004 with famed producer John Leckie, whose work with Radiohead and Pink Floyd endeared him to the critical taste of the band, and There’s a Fire was released in 2005.
With a return to the studio planned for late 2007, Longwave found itself on the list of indispensable listening for the first part of this millennium. Expect them to stay there. Longwave's latest album, Secrets are Sinister, was released in November 2008 on Original Signal Recordings.

Sometimes I can feel you in the air
Sometimes I just lose my head
And throw all of my caution to the wind
I've needed before and I need it now
I've needed before and I need it now
I've needed before and I need it now
Inside your blue world
Inside your blue world
All the rivers that you dammed
Are overflowing over land and sea
With pockets of waves that pull you under
Overflowing over land and sea
With all the things you can't take back
And all the things you can't take back
And all the things you can't take back and
Inside your blue world
Inside your blue world
The lyrics of Longwave's song "River" depict the complex emotions of someone who is deeply in love with another person. The singer admits that sometimes he gets so excited when he is around his love interest that he can feel her presence in the air. He also confesses that sometimes he loses his head and takes reckless actions, throwing caution to the wind. The repetition of the line "I've needed before and I need it now" reinforces the urgency and intensity of his feelings.
The metaphor of the river is used throughout the song to symbolize the powerful force of love that cannot be contained or controlled. The singer describes how all the rivers that his love interest has dammed are overflowing over land and sea, causing waves and currents that can pull him under. He acknowledges that there are things that cannot be undone or taken back in a relationship, but despite this, he is still drawn to his love interest and wants to be inside her "blue world."
The lyrics of "River" are open to interpretation, but they generally suggest a deep longing for love and connection, mixed with the fear of losing control and the consequences that may come with it. The use of vivid metaphors and the repetitive structure of the lyrics combine to create a powerful and emotional impact on the listener.
