Longwave followed up on the success of The Strangest Things by entering the studio in 2004 with famed producer John Leckie, whose work with Radiohead and Pink Floyd endeared him to the critical taste of the band, and There’s a Fire was released in 2005.
With a return to the studio planned for late 2007, Longwave found itself on the list of indispensable listening for the first part of this millennium. Expect them to stay there. Longwave's latest album, Secrets are Sinister, was released in November 2008 on Original Signal Recordings.
Sirens In The Deep Sea
Longwave Lyrics

I've trying to get through, oh
It's so hard to let you know
I've been trying, yes, it's true, oh
You're the only one that can
The lonely one again
You're the only one that can
I've been swimming in the deep sea
Sirens come up to greet me
But it's not so good to be
The only one that can
The lonely once again
You're the only one that can
You are alone
You're the only one that can
The lonely one again
You're the only one that can
You are alone
You're the only one that can
The lonely once again
You're the only one that can
You are alone
You are alone
The lyrics of Longwave's Sirens In The Deep Sea are about a person trying hard to reach out to someone. The struggle is real, but they still try to let them know. The person trying to get in touch feels lonely and isolated, and they believe that only the intended recipient of the message can understand and help them. However, the person is alone and isolated himself or herself. It seems that the message never reaches the intended target, as they are preoccupied or unaware of the struggle of the person trying to reach them.
The lines "I've been swimming in the deep sea / Sirens come up to greet me / But it's not so good to be" describe the singer's desperate attempts to connect with someone. The sirens serve as a metaphorical representation of the distractions and temptations that are prevalent in life. Though they might seem beautiful, they can be dangerous and misleading. The second half of the chorus repeats the idea that only the intended recipient can alleviate the singer's loneliness, but that they are themselves isolated and alone.
Overall, the song seems to capture the feeling of isolation and the struggles of reaching out to people, whether it's due to distance or communication barriers. The lyrics are open to interpretation and might speak to anyone who has ever tried to connect with someone in a meaningful way but failed.
