Dance On My Own
Loona Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I made you my everything
Put my life in your hands and you held the strings
Don't know who I am anymore
Let me down every time and I hit the floor

And you gave me nothing at all
Only empty excuses to try and break the fall, so
I did what I never could to do
And I cut myself loose from you

I don't need nobody to move my body
All me with no strings attached
I don't wanna be somebody who
Lets somebody hold me if they hold me back

I just wanna dance, dance
Dance on my own (dance on my own)
I just wanna dance, dance
Dance on my own (dance on my own)

I don't need someone to feel something
It's just me myself and I love it
I just wanna dance, dance (ah)
Dance on my own (dance on my own)

I'm back and I'm feelin' myself
Gonna make a little room for my mental health
And if I stay out all alone
I got one less problem that I'm bringing home

I don't need nobody to move my body
All me with no strings attached
I don't wanna be somebody who
Lets somebody hold me if they hold me back

I just wanna dance, dance
Dance on my own (dance on my own)
I just wanna dance, dance
Dance on my own (dance on my own)

I don't need someone to feel something
It's just me myself and I love it
I just wanna dance, dance
Dance on my own (dance on my own)

I don't need nobody to move my body
All me with no strings attached
I don't wanna be somebody who
Lets somebody hold me if they hold me back

I just wanna dance, dance
Dance on my own (dance on my own)
I just wanna dance, dance
Dance on my own (dance on my own)
I don't need someone to feel something
It's just me myself and I love it

I just wanna dance, dance (ah)
Dance on my own (dance on my own) (oh whoa whoa)

wtf a coherent kpop song that actually makes sense and has one continual meaningfull story and message all throughout it and is in english on top of that? this is revolutionary

@oxicemusic

@gowon crunch but to extend on the op’s point. Why is it such a rarity for full english kpop songs to have odd wording or phrases? They have writers. Loona is raising the bar but I think it is strange that the bar is so low to begin with.

@wolfstar420

The English is pretty nice in this, creative even. The wordplay with "strings attached" (implying that they don't want someone else to move their body with strings, but the phrase is also used for physical only relationships), "I don't wanna be somebody who lets somebody hold me if they hold me back" is great.

But did they not use grammarly while writing the title track? 😭 "we ain't gotta east of Eden so keep it if you gon ball with us then just sweep it", "we'll taking to the moon", "open your eyes is it moon or the skies and living is wise" ayo dude wtf

@lokew1254

@• Lee Chan • I legit thought the exact same thing and it annoys me so much, because there are like so many people the song has to go through before they publish it. Like at some point someone must have said something so BBC fully knew the lyrics were grammatically wrong, but the fact that they didn't do anything about it angers me. It is so unsatisfying. Especially because it is so close to making sense, just a little off, but i guess it is like that with most kpop songs unfortunatly
