Origins
In the spring of 2010 Schneider traveled from Los Angeles to Northern Michigan. At Lake Huron, he developed songs for the first Lord Huron EP. He named the recording, Into the Sun. Upon his return to L.A., Schneider set to work putting a band together. The first to join him was his percussion-playing childhood friend Mark. Each of the band members of band hail from Michigan.
Into The Sun and Mighty
Lord Huron released two EPs in 2010, Into the Sun and Mighty. Pop & Hiss, the LA Times Music Blog, described Mighty as "full of lush acoustic guitars and Midwestern-accented harmonies as warm as a winter fireplace, but it's the Caribbean-influenced percussion that fans Lord Huron's folk sound into flame,"and Pitchfork could only classify it as "a stylistic superball, bouncing off any wall you put around it." NPR's World Cafe wrote "the band's lush harmonies are backed by a hazy whirlpool of polyrhythmic tropical drums and folk guitars."
Despite the fact that Schneider played all of the instruments on both EPs, he has gathered a band for live performances, which have also gotten positive reviews. "The totality of the experience was like being on hand for a combination drum circle, chamber performance, and Calypso street party," wrote LA Weekly. Some of the larger shows the band has performed at include Lollapalooza (2011) and Outside Lands (2011), as well as a marathon ten shows in four days at the SXSW (2011) music festival.

Hundreds of lives, thousands of years
How many miles have we wandered
Under the sky, chasing our fear
Some kind of trouble is coming
Don't know when, don't know what
I will stand by you, brother
I've shared my life with you, brother
Since I recall, you've been my friend
You say we're not like the others
Still we must die, all things must end
I know we can't stop what's coming
But I will try, oh how I'll try!
Will you fight with me, brother
One last time, one last fight
Don't turn away, don't tell me that we're not the same
We face the fire together, brothers 'til the end
Don't run away, our time will come but not today
I stand beside you, brother, with you 'til the end
Don't turn away, don't tell me that we're not the same
We face the fire together, brothers 'til the end
Don't run away, our time will come but not today
I stand beside you, brother, with you 'til the end
The song "Brother" by Lord Huron is all about the deep bond between two individuals who have known each other for ages. The first verse talks about the longevity of the friendship, stating that the two have known each other for "hundreds of lives, thousands of years". The second verse hints at the impending danger that the two are about to face, "Some kind of trouble is coming, don't know when, don't know what". Despite the uncertainty of the danger, the singer promises that he will "stand by you, brother, 'til the daylight comes or I'm dead and gone".
The third verse talks about how the two have shared their lives with each other, but regardless, all things must come to an end. The singer acknowledges that they cannot stop what's coming, but he will still try. He asks his brother to fight with him one last time, indicating that this fight might be their last.
In the chorus, the singer urges his brother not to turn away and reminds him that they face the fire together. He tells him not to run away because their time will come, but not today. The song ends with the same words "I stand beside you, brother, with you 'til the end", emphasizing the strong bond between the two.
Overall, the song highlights the importance of the bond between two people who have been there for each other for ages. The theme of brotherhood and loyalty is showcased beautifully in this song, and the lyrics are heartfelt and sincere.
