Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Lord Spoon & David's song "Woman a Love In the Night Time" repeat the phrase "woman a love in the night time" over and over again. At first glance, this could seem like a repetitive and simplistic phrase, but when interpreting these lyrics, it is clear that there is a deeper meaning. The phrase "woman a love" could be interpreted as the idea that women are the embodiment of love. The addition of "in the night time" could imply that this love is hidden or secret, perhaps alluding to the idea of a lover sneaking around at night to see their beloved.

Furthermore, the repetition of the phrase could be seen as a way to emphasize the importance of this love. This could be a love that is not accepted by society or one that is forbidden, hence the need for secrecy. Overall, these lyrics convey a sense of passion and urgency, suggesting that this love is something that cannot be ignored or denied.

Going back and listening to this tune again, I'm thinking how surprising it is in one way that it is a Jamaican artist. This sounds so much like Belizean brukdown that if you told me it was Wilfred Peters singing this I would not be surprised .

The man singing the lead call voice is Shirley "Calypso" Williams, the man behind the amazing calypso album "King Bed Bug" (his solo-album) and also the Calypso project known as "Mix Flour and Sugar". I have NO idea where the name Lord Spoon or David came from, but it might have been yet another artist name as most Calypso artists had a name similar to "Lord insert literally ANYTHING here". Well, actually this is in fact a "Mix Flour and Sugar" release, but for some reason the name "Lord Spoon & David" is what it is widely known as today. The other song Lord Spoon & David is affiliated with is "The World on a Wheel", but this is also a "Mix Flour and Sugar" release.

The name 'Lord Spoon and David' was applied for the UK release on Escort, and carried over to the Canadian pressing of the single too. Strangely enough, the other Mix Flour & Sugar single ('Screw the Cock Tight') also had a UK pressing, but on that single the name Mix Flour & Sugar was used, as it should have been. It's a mystery...
