I'll be satisfied as long as I walk let me walk close to Thee
Just a closer walk with Thee grant it Jesus is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee let it be dear Lord let it be
When my feeble life is o'er time for me shall be no more
Guide me gently safely o'er to Thy kingdom shores to Thy shores
Just a closer walk
The song Just A Closer Walk With Thee by Loretta Lynn is a gospel hymn that speaks to the singer's faith in Jesus Christ. The hymn starts with the words, "I am weak but Thou art strong Jesus keep me from all wrong" meaning that the singer acknowledges her own weaknesses and faults, but believes that Jesus can help her overcome them. The second line, "I'll be satisfied as long as I walk let me walk close to Thee" suggests that the singer is content as long as she is walking with Jesus and following his teachings. The chorus, "Just a closer walk with Thee grant it Jesus is my plea daily walking close to Thee let it be dear Lord let it be" is an appeal to Jesus to provide the singer with a closer relationship with him and to allow her to walk daily with him.
The final stanza of the song, "When my feeble life is o'er time for me shall be no more guide me gently safely o'er to Thy kingdom shores to Thy shores just a closer walk" speaks to the end of the singer's life and her hope that Jesus will guide her safely to heaven. Overall, the song is a testament to the singer's faith in Jesus and her desire to have a closer relationship with him.
