I can see it and I know the signs so well
I know he's out there and around it every day
There's trouble but there won't be long
'Cause in the morning it'll all be gone
Long gone, 'cause Lord I'm gonna love him
Till the devil goes away
Now I know about those devil women
They'll set your lovers head to spinning
And she's a demon she wants control
But she ain't taken my man's soul
She ain't taken my man's soul
There's trouble in paradise
I can see it and I know the signs so well
I know he's out there and around it every day
There's trouble but there won't be long
'Cause in the morning it'll all be gone
Long gone, 'cause Lord I'm gonna love him
Till the devil goes away
There's trouble in paradise
Lord I'm gonna love him
Till the devil goes away
In the opening lines of Loretta Lynn's song "Trouble in Paradise," she acknowledges that things are not going well in her relationship with her partner. She claims to know the signs of trouble and implies that her partner may be involved with another woman. Despite this, she seems confident that their love will prevail, and she declares that she will love him until the devil himself is driven away. She also makes reference to the idea of a "devil woman" who can tempt a man away from his loyal partner, but asserts that this will not happen in her case.
As the song progresses, Lynn's determination to hold onto her man becomes even clearer. She describes the other woman as a "demon" who is trying to control her partner, but insists that she has not succeeded in taking his soul. Lynn's love and loyalty are unshakeable, and she is convinced that her partner will return to her in the end. While the song acknowledges the difficulties and temptations that can arise in a relationship, Lynn ultimately presents a message of steadfast devotion and the power of love to overcome obstacles.
Overall, "Trouble in Paradise" is a song about the ups and downs of a relationship, particularly when faced with external temptations. Its lyrics convey a sense of both vulnerability and resilience, as Lynn acknowledges the potential for trouble but ultimately asserts her commitment to her partner.
