Woman Of The World
Loretta Lynn Lyrics

Your spell is on my baby and you've got me sorrow bound
You don't really love him you're playin' around for fun
Woman of the world leave my world alone
You're the devil's woman that's what my man don't know
Why I wear more in swimmin' than you wear to parties where you go
There's a place I know where you should go for that's where you belong
I don't know about the things the bright lights taught to you
My country boy don't know them any better than I do
I'll have to watch him hurtin' after you are gone
Woman of the world leave my world alone
You're the devil's woman that's what my man don't know
Why I wear more in swimmin' than you wear to parties where you go
There's a place I know where you should go for that's where you belong
Woman of the world leave my world alone
In "Woman of the World", Loretta Lynn addresses a woman who has come from the city to her small country town and has taken a hold of her man. Lynn describes her as a "devil's woman" who is playing around with her man for fun. Lynn is frustrated with this woman who she believes does not really love her man and is just using him. She tells the woman to "leave my world alone" and go back to where she belongs. Lynn also comments on the way that the woman dresses and the lifestyle she leads compared to the more conservative values of her country town.
The song highlights the tensions between the city and the country and the clash of values that can occur. Lynn is protective of her man and her way of life and sees the woman as a threat to both. She uses language such as "devil's woman" to further emphasize her belief that the woman is not to be trusted.
Overall, "Woman of the World" is a cautionary tale to women who come from the city and try to interfere with the lives of women from small country towns. It serves to highlight the importance of sticking to one's values and being cautious of outsiders who may not have the best intentions.
