The band was fronted by bilingual lead singer María del Pilar aka Pilar Díaz (or Lady P), who is of Chilean heritage. During one point in their career they were signed by Maverick Records, but were eventually dropped from the label and picked up by Vapor. Their biggest hits include Panic-oh, Van Nuys Es Very Nice, and Stalk U. Before splitting, the band successfully released two EPs and one LP.
During their relatively short career, Los Abandoned performed with legendary musicians such as Café Tacuba, The Breeders, Caléxico, Julieta Venegas, Molotov and Aterciopelados. The band participated in both the 2004 and 2006 South By Southwest festivals in Austin, Texas. Another highlight was playing the Latin Alternative Music Conferance on the Santa Monica Pier in 2005, alongside Mexican singer-songwriter Ely Guerra and Columbian pop singer Andrea Echeverri. The band's philanthropic contributions include opening the Bridge School Benefit for Paul McCartney, Neil Young, and the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers.
They announced their split during summer 2007. Pilar Diaz continues to record as a solo artist.

Pareció
Como el tipo de lugar
En que tu querías estar
No sé que hiciste
No sé que quisiste
Me amaba hasta que...
Me han dicho
Que el amor
Simplemente es un pujón
De un magnético duro
Se esfuerza en la gravedad
Y termina en antiguedad
Hasta que se cortó la electricidad
Me amaba hasta que...
O no, o no
O no, o no
O no, o no
Antes de
Sin querer
Terminaste sin razón
El poder se acabó
Hasta que se cortó la electricidad
Me amaba hasta que...
Los Abandoned's song "Electricidad" is about the disillusionment of love, questioning whether it was ever real to begin with. The song opens with an observation that the place the person is in is not where they wanted to be, hinting at a sense of dissatisfaction. The singer then reflects on how they do not know what the person did or wanted, but they loved them until the electricity was cut. This serves as a metaphorical reference to the loss of spark in the relationship.
The second verse delves deeper into the idea of love being a magnetic push that ultimately succumbs to gravity and ends in antiquity. This metaphor conveys how love can lose its intensity over time and become a thing of the past. The chorus repeats the line "me amaba hasta que..." which translates to "they loved me until..." and emphasizes the fleeting nature of love.
Overall, "Electricidad" is a melancholic song that suggests how love can leave people alone in the dark once the electricity of passion fades away.
