After a touring the Southern Cone in 1968, Los Gatos released their second LP, "Seremos Amigos" featuring a psychedelic rock sound. The band's third effort following a brief hiatus, 1969's Beat N°1, featured renowned guitarist Pappo as a new addition to the band's line up. His blues influence in contrast to Litto Nebbia's classic melodic approach made the album uneven, but created dazzling passages of music that could be considered the earliest recordings of progressive rock anywhere in the world, previewing the rise of the genre in the 70s.
In 1970, Los Gatos released their fourth album, originally titled "Rock de la Mujer Podrida", the band was forced to change it to "Rock de la Mujer Perdida" by the government censorship. It was Los Gatos's last release. Later that year, Pappo left the band to form his own blues rock group, Pappo's Blues. and Los Gatos disbanded.
In 2007, the band reunited for a short tour and a few special shows in their hometown of Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina.
Mañana
Los Gatos Lyrics

La sonrisa de un niño me hacía feliz
Hoy
Nada de eso me queda a mi para creer
Mañana
Del mañana que puedo esperar
Solamente amor o soledad
Mañana
Cuando ya esté muy viejo y cansado
No podré más pensar en mañana
Pues futuro no habrá para mí.
Ayer
El perfume del viento me hacía soñar.
Hoy nada de eso
Me queda a mi para creer
Mañana
Del mañana que puedo esperar
Y quien sabe qué puedo encontrar
Mañana
Cuando todo ya esté tan lejano
No podré recordar el pasado
Pues mi mente no se acordará
Mañana
Del mañana qué puedo esperar
Y quién sabe qué puedo encontrar
Del mañana qué puedo esperar.
The lyrics of Los Gatos's song Mañana are a reflection on the fleeting nature of time, memory, and hope. The song begins by highlighting the joy that the singer experienced in the past, specifically through the smile of a child and the scent of the wind. However, as time passes, the singer feels as though they have lost the ability to believe in such simple pleasures, and they begin to question what the future holds for them. The chorus of the song is a repeated refrain of "mañana," which translates to "tomorrow." This conveys the sense of uncertainty and anticipation that the singer is feeling about their future.
The second verse of the song continues to explore the theme of time and memory. The singer imagines a future when they are old and tired, and they will no longer be able to look forward to tomorrow because they will have no future. This creates a sense of melancholy, as the singer seems to be questioning the purpose and meaning of their life. However, the chorus once again provides a glimmer of hope, as the singer acknowledges that the future may hold love or loneliness. The final verse of the song further emphasizes the fleeting nature of memory, as the singer imagines a time when they will no longer be able to remember the past. Despite all of these uncertainties, the chorus creates a sense of resilience, as the singer continues to ponder what tomorrow may bring.
Overall, Mañana is a reflective and introspective song that invites the listener to contemplate the mysteries of time, memory, and hope. The lyrics are simple but powerful, conveying a sense of nostalgia and longing for a time when life seemed simpler and more joyful.
