Girls Just Want to Have Fun

My mother says, "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh mother, dear, we're not the fortunate ones
And girls just want to have fun
Oh, girls just want to have fun
The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells, "What you gonna do with your life?"
But girls they want to have fun
Oh, girls just want to have
That's all they really want, some fun
When the working day is done
Girls they want to have fun
Oh, girls just want to have fun
Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh, girls they want to have fun
Oh, girls just want to have
That's all they really want, some fun
When the working day is done
Girls they want to have fun
Oh, girls just want to have fun
They want to have fun
They want to have fun
The lyrics to Los Horóscopos De Durango's song "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" express a desire for women to live life to the fullest and enjoy themselves despite societal expectations and pressure from family members. The first verse describes a woman coming home in the morning light, likely after a night of partying, and facing criticism from her mother for not living her life right. The woman responds by acknowledging her lack of fortune but asserting that girls just want to have fun. The second verse depicts a similar scenario, with the woman receiving criticism from her father, but once again asserting that girls simply want to enjoy themselves.
The songs chorus reinforces the idea that all girls really want is to have some fun, particularly after a long day of work. The final verse speaks to the desire for women to be able to walk in the sun and enjoy themselves without being hidden away by men.
Overall, the song can be seen as a feminist anthem, celebrating women's right to have fun and live their lives to the fullest, no matter what anyone else may say or expect of them.
