Vocalist/guitarist David Hidalgo and drummer Louie Pérez met at Garfield High School in East Los Angeles, and bonded over their mutual affinity for obscure musical acts such as Fairport Convention, Randy Newman and Ry Cooder. Pérez recalls, "We’re looking at each other, 'You like this stuff? I thought I was the only weird one.' So I went over to his house one day for about a year, which we spent listening to records, playing guitars, and starting to write songs." The two borrowed reel-to-reel recorders from a friend and created multi-track recordings of music spanning from parody songs to free-form jazz. They later enlisted fellow students Cesar Rosas and Conrad Lozano to complete the group's line-up in 1973.
Formed in the late 1970's, band members Dave Hidalgo, Cesar Rojas, Steve Berlin, Louie Pérez and Conrad Lozano became the bellwether for Mexican-American music in the U.S. when they recorded the music for "La Bamba" in 1987, which added popular acclaim to the critical praise they had received for their 1984 album "How Will the Wolf Survive?".
They have since become one of the mainstays of the Latin music scene as well as rock music in general, staying together through over 20 albums, and for almost three decades, through changing music climate and personal tragedies, they've continued cranking out albums and touring to dedicated fans.

Try me (try me)
Darlin' tell me
I need You
Try me (try me)
Try me (try me)
And your love will always be true
Oh I need you (I need you)
Hold me (hold me)
Hold me (hold me)
I want you right here by my side
Hold me (hold me)
Hold me (hold me)
And your love we won't hide
Oh I need you (I need you)
(Need you, need you)
(Need you, need you)
Oh I need you (I need you)
Oh walk with me (walk with me)
Talk with me (talk with me)
I want you to stop my heart from cryin'
Walk with me (walk with me)
Talk with me (talk with me)
And your love stops my heart from dyin'
Oh I need you (I need you, hoo hoo)
Los Lobos's song "Try Me" is a love song that expresses a yearning for deep emotional connection with the significant other. The first stanza "Try me, try me, darlin' tell me I need you" is a plea for the lover to try out a relationship with the singer and assure them of their love. The repetition of "Try me" reinforces the singer's desire to be given a chance to try out their love. The second stanza, "Hold me, hold me, I want you right here by my side" expresses the desire for emotional and physical closeness. The singer desires to be held by the lover and not hide their love. In the final stanza, "Walk with me, talk with me, I want you to stop my heart from cryin'" the singer expresses their longing for communication and emotional support. They desire for the lover to walk with them through the ups and downs and stop their heart from dying.
The song's delivery is characterized by a fusion of different musical genres such as rock, blues, R&B and traditional Mexican music, which were all typical of Los Lobos's music style. The song climbed to number 11 on the US RnB charts, thus contributing significantly to the band's popularity. The band's name, Los Lobos, is Spanish for "the wolves." The song features a characteristic riff played on the slide guitar, which serves to add to the overall mood of the song.

Savadorason1--Liking these Los Lobos for this song. Horns are cool, vocals are just so smooth and clean, the song has a good feeling... James Brown has his own great style but something about these Los Lobos is real good with this song...
