Losing You
Los Lonely Boys Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We were together for a little while.
Holding you so tight I was so proud.

I could pick you from the crowd.
And I said to the Lord please, help me out.
I'm wishin' upon these fallin' stars.
And spending most of my time in these parts
Thinking of you and wishin' you were here
Sailin' down and wastin' all my tears

Sittin' and knowin' someday we'll be through
Facing the fact that I know I'm losing you
I don't want to face the fact
But I guess I'll have to take that chance
Of losing you

And now I know that I was wrong.
And I'm tryin' to make it here on my own.
But now it does seem all alone
It's easy to see that you're just all grown
Thinking of you and wishin' you were here.
Sailin' down and wastin' all my tears

Sittin' and knowing someday we'll be through
Facing the fact that I know I'm losing you
I don't want to face the fact
But I guess I'll have to take that chance
Of losing you

I don't want to face the fact, oh
But I guess I'll have to take that chance

Of losing you
Of losing you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Los Lonely Boys' song, Losing You, speak to the feelings of heartbreak and loss. The song opens with the singer reflecting on his time with his former lover, remembering how proud he was to hold her tight and how he could always pick her out from a crowd. He confesses to praying for guidance on how to navigate the relationship and wishing upon falling stars for a happy ending. Despite his best efforts, he eventually realizes he is losing her and struggles to come to terms with it.

The second verse speaks to the aftermath of the breakup, with the singer admitting that he was wrong and trying to move on with his life, but feeling alone without his partner. He still thinks of her often and even wishes for her to be there with him, but knows that they will never reconcile. The chorus repeats the idea of having to face the fact that he is losing her, even if he doesn't want to accept it. The song ends with a final plea to avoid losing her, though the tone is one of resignation rather than hope.
