Los Pasteles Verdes was founded by guitarist Víctor Hugo Acuña and keyboardist Cesar Acuña, who are brothers; they had previously played together in The Jeekstones and Los Benkers. In 1973 they formed Los Pasteles Verdes with singer German Laos, drummer Jorge Luis Principe, bassist Miguel Moreno, and percussionist Juan Vásquez. In 1974, another singer, Aldo Guibovich, joined the group. Their first hit, a success across Latin America, was "Angelitos Negros", which preceded the release of their debut Recuerdos de Una Noche.[ Among their later hits were "Hipocresia" and "Esclavo y Amo".
The group made a significant impact on the Mexican and Mexican-American musical markets in the late 1970s. For part of the 1970s and 1980s they were based out of Mexico. They toured Japan in 2007

palabras de amor,
unas lágrimas,
todos tenemos momento y razón,
para recordar,
el tiempo destruirá,
tus sueños de cristal.
los espero,
tu voz se fue perdiendo,
con el último adiós,
Manda christmas,
los espero,
tu voz se fue perdiendo,
cuando el tren ya se marchó.
Todos tenemos momento y razón,
para recordar,
días felices que no volverán
tú muy bien sabrás
el tiempo destruirá,
tus sueños de cristal.
Manda christmas,
los espero,
tu voz se fue perdiendo,
con el último adiós,
Manda christmas,
los espero,
tu voz se fue perdiendo,
cuando el tren ya se marchó.
Manda christmas,
los espero,
tu voz se fue perdiendo,
con el último adiós,
Manda christmas,
los espero,
tu voz se fue perdiendo,
cuando el tren ya se marchó.
Manda christmas,
los espero
The lyrics of Los Pasteles Verdes' song, "El Adiós," convey a message of love and heartbreak. The first stanza expresses the idea that everyone experiences certain moments and reasons to remember certain times in their lives, and how the passing of time can shatter one's dreams. The line "manda christmas" is an expression of hope and longing for the return of a loved one.
The second stanza highlights the memories of happy times that will never return and the acceptance that time will eventually destroy everything, even one's most precious dreams. The repetition of the phrase "los espero" emphasizes the desire to be reunited with the person who has left.
The chorus repeats the phrase "manda christmas" along with the idea that the voice of the loved one has faded away with the last goodbye, and that the train has already departed. The phrase "manda christmas" is a Mexican expression that originated from the American holiday tradition of sending Christmas cards and has since evolved into a way of expressing love and affection.
Overall, "El Adiós" is a bittersweet song that reflects on the inevitable passing of time and the pain of separation from loved ones.
