Hotel
Los Rancheros Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
las escaleras del viejo hotel
su piel no huele a Channel
habrá dormido en algún cuartel
La espero despierto
porque mis nervios no me dejan dormir
ella es tan distinta
Y nunca la pude ver
parecía otra mujer
sus piernas son largas
su cara pálida como un papel
A veces quisiera amar
a una mujer normal
pero ella es toda mi inspiración
le pone vértigo a mi vida
Vivimos en un hotel
con las miserias del mundo de hoy
yo soy un artista
y ella camina en la avenida
Vivimos en un hotel
con las miserias del mundo de hoy
yo soy un artista
y ella camina en la avenida
The lyrics of Los Rancheros's song "Hotel" tell the story of a man waiting anxiously for a woman to arrive at an old hotel. He can hear her footsteps as she climbs the stairs, and he describes her scent as not smelling like Chanel, suggesting that she may have spent the night in a cheap lodging. Despite this, he stays awake, unable to sleep due to his nerves. The woman is described as different, but that's how he met her.
The singer admits that he never really saw her before as she now appears to be a completely different person. He notices her long legs and pale face, which are described as being as white as paper. This description suggests that she may have undergone a transformation or change in appearance that surprises the singer. There is a sense of mystery surrounding her.
The singer expresses his desire to love a normal woman, possibly suggesting that he recognizes the complexities and challenges of being involved with someone who may not fit societal norms. However, he acknowledges that she is his inspiration, adding excitement and thrill to his life. Despite the potential difficulties, he cannot resist the allure she brings.
The song also conveys the idea of living in a hotel with the miseries of the present world. It implies that the characters exist in a transient and uncertain environment, with the artist and the woman walking the streets. This setting may symbolize the transient nature of their relationship or the transient nature of life itself. The repetition of the line "vivimos en un hotel" emphasizes their shared experience and perhaps a feeling of being lost or disconnected from stability and permanence.
