T… Read Full Bio ↴The group was born in 1990 when Andrés Calamaro arrived in Spain.
There he teamed up with Argentinean Ariel Rot, who had already played with him in Argentina, and the Spaniard Julian Infante. Rot and Infante had been composers of the youthful group Tequila. The three of them, along with Germán Vilella, - the other Spaniard in the band, - began their tests and small concerts in Madrid.
At first they were going to call the band 'Los Locos', but they soon found out that there was already an Asturian group with that name. The definitive name is due to Calamaro's amusement from the Spanish expression 'to be in Rodriguez' (when the head of a household must stay in the city for work reasons, while his wife and children enjoy themselves at the beach), because he himself was 'in Rodriguez', since he had left his fiancée in Argentina.
After composing their first songs they released their first album in 1991: 'Buena Suerte', which had great acceptance in Argentina, mainly because of Fabiana Cantilo's cover of the song 'Mi Enfermedad'. In Spain, nevertheless, it did not succeed, mainly because the recording company that published it (Passion) went bankrupt soon after the release. In 1992 they released a live album called 'Disco Pirata', with recordings from their Madrid, Barcelona and Caracas shows. In 1993 they again released a studio record, 'Sin Documentos'. In 1995 they released their last studio album 'Palabras Más, Palabras Menos', with famous songs like 'Mucho Mejor' or 'Milonga Del Marinero Y El Capitán'.
After a final tour, the group decided to separate after releasing a greatest hits album entitled 'Hasta Luego'.

casi sin decirnos nada
sin mirarnos a los ojos
yo me pregunto porque
me tuvo que pasar a mi
yo me pregunto porque
me tuvo que pasar a mi
pero igual no tengo a donde ir
y me dice la gente
que deje de pensar en ti
Sin decir una palabra
casi sin decirnos nada
sin mirarnos a los ojos
yo me pregunto porque
me tuvo que pasar a mi
yo me pregunto porque
me tuvo que pasar a mi
Y estoy cansandome de esperar
pero igual
pero igual no tengo a donde ir
y me dice la gente
que deje de pensar en ti
Y se que es en vano
brindar esta noche
por nosotros dos
Sin decir una palabra
casi sin decirnos nada
sin mirarnos a los ojos
yo me pregunto porque
me tuvo que pasar a mi
y se que es en vano
brindar esta noche
por nosotros dos
A los ojos
a los ojos.
Los Rodríguez's song "A Los Ojos" tells a story of a person who is questioning their fate after a relationship has ended. The lyrics express the sadness and loneliness that come from a sudden breakup, where there was no explanation or closure. The person is left to question why this had to happen to them, and why they were left alone without any answers. The phrase "sin decir una palabra, casi sin decirnos nada, sin mirarnos a los ojos" highlights the lack of communication and connection that was present towards the end of the relationship. The person feels lost and helpless, with nowhere to go and no one to turn to.
The repetition of "me pregunto porque me tuvo que pasar a mi" emphasizes the person's confusion and despair. They are struggling to come to terms with the breakup, unable to understand why they were the one who had to go through this painful experience. Despite their exhaustion from waiting and longing for their lost love, they can't seem to move on. The people around them advise them to let go and stop thinking about their ex, but the person is deeply hurt and finds it hard to break free from the memories.
Overall, "A Los Ojos" evokes feelings of heartbreak and melancholy, painting a vivid picture of the aftermath of a failed relationship. The lyrics are powerful and emotional, making the song relatable to anyone who has experienced the pain of a broken heart.

Yo me pregunto porqué
