T… Read Full Bio ↴The group was born in 1990 when Andrés Calamaro arrived in Spain.
There he teamed up with Argentinean Ariel Rot, who had already played with him in Argentina, and the Spaniard Julian Infante. Rot and Infante had been composers of the youthful group Tequila. The three of them, along with Germán Vilella, - the other Spaniard in the band, - began their tests and small concerts in Madrid.
At first they were going to call the band 'Los Locos', but they soon found out that there was already an Asturian group with that name. The definitive name is due to Calamaro's amusement from the Spanish expression 'to be in Rodriguez' (when the head of a household must stay in the city for work reasons, while his wife and children enjoy themselves at the beach), because he himself was 'in Rodriguez', since he had left his fiancée in Argentina.
After composing their first songs they released their first album in 1991: 'Buena Suerte', which had great acceptance in Argentina, mainly because of Fabiana Cantilo's cover of the song 'Mi Enfermedad'. In Spain, nevertheless, it did not succeed, mainly because the recording company that published it (Passion) went bankrupt soon after the release. In 1992 they released a live album called 'Disco Pirata', with recordings from their Madrid, Barcelona and Caracas shows. In 1993 they again released a studio record, 'Sin Documentos'. In 1995 they released their last studio album 'Palabras Más, Palabras Menos', with famous songs like 'Mucho Mejor' or 'Milonga Del Marinero Y El Capitán'.
After a final tour, the group decided to separate after releasing a greatest hits album entitled 'Hasta Luego'.

why bailaba siempre al compás;

The lyrics of Los Rodriguez's "Milonga del Marinero y El Capitán" tell the story of two men who meet in a bar and bond over their shared love of rum. They recognize that this will be their final port, and they drink to their inevitable end. The reason for their final destination is not initially clear, but we later learn that they both went down together under the sea. The reason for their fate is not specified, but the implication is that their love of drink and women was what led them to it. The milonga describes the culture of the port town in which the story takes place, where men go to drink and women wait for them to return from their voyages. The song highlights the recklessness of youth and the consequences of living for the moment without regard to tomorrow.
The central theme of the song is about the fleeting nature of life and the choices we make along the way. The story of the two men serves as a cautionary tale of how vice and indulgence can lead to a tragic end. As they drink and make their way through the night, they are seduced by a beautiful woman who ultimately leads to their demise. There is a sense of inevitability in their fate, as if they knew what was coming but couldn't stop themselves. The song also touches on the idea of living for the moment and the acceptance of one's own mortality. The milonga is a celebration of life and death, and a reminder that we must enjoy every moment while we can.
