Folias De La Libertad
Los Sabandeños Lyrics

Al canario
Le partieron el pico
El pico con una azada
Parece que convenía
Que el canario no cantara.
Parece que convenía
Que el canario no cantara.
El pico con una azada
¡Ay, canario lindo!,
¡ay, lindo canario!,
Vente con nosotros
Y deja al falsario.
Aquel pequeño cantor
Que cantaba entre barrotes,
Que cantaba
Que cantaba entre barrotes
Desgañitó su cogote,
Rompió la jaula y voló.
Desgañito su cogote
Rompio la jaula y voló
Aquel pequeño cantor
Cantó
Se fue con su vuelo
Y con su cantar,
En pos de los vientos
De la libertad.
La alegría del canario
Es darle vida a un cantar,
Darle vida
Es darle vida a un cantar,
Y al compás de una folía,
Dejarlo libre volar.
Y al compas de una folia
Dejarlo libre volar
La alegria del canaria
Es darle vida a un cantar
Del monte hasta el pico,
Del mar a la sierra,
Miles de canarios
Defienden su tierra.
The lyrics of Los Sabandeños's song Folias De La Libertad describe the story of a canary whose beak is broken with a hoe, probably to prevent it from singing. The canary is regarded as a symbol of freedom and the lyrics express the idea that it is better to let it sing freely than to try to suppress its voice. The song also tells the story of a small singer canary that was kept in a cage and sang from behind bars until it finally broke its prison and flew away, seeking freedom. The lyrics express both the beauty and joy of the canary's singing as well as the importance of freedom as a fundamental human right.
The lyrics of the song convey a strong message about the importance of freedom of expression and the value of staying true to oneself even in the face of adversity. The canary is used as a powerful metaphor for human beings, who are often silenced or oppressed in various ways. The airy, joyful melody of the song adds to its power, creating a sense of exuberance and hope that encourages listeners to embrace freedom and celebrate their own voices.
