Los Suaves Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

¿Qué es lo que hago aquí arriba
En esto que parece un puente?
Aunque el agua pasa por encima
Y ahí abajo veo correr a la gente

No sé que hago enganchado
En este viaje de locura y muerte
Un nombre que no era mi nombre
Fue su adiós al volar para siempre.

No sé como tan alto he llegado,

Once minutos, once.
Once pecados, once traiciones.
Once minutos...
Once fracasos, once ilusiones.

Once minutos, once.
Once caricias, once golpes
Once minutos...
Once campanadas de fin de año... media noche.

(Solo)

Pobre loco, pobre loco...

Once minutos, once.
Once pecados, once traiciones.
Once minutos...
Once fracasos, once ilusiones.

Once minutos, once.
Once caricias, once golpes
Once minutos...
Once campanadas de fin de año... media noche.

Once minutos, once ocasiones.
Once disparos, once rencores.
Once sollozos, once sonrisas
Once lagrimas, once risas.

Once mandamientos, once mentiras
Once verdades que matan la vida.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Los Suaves's song 11 minutos tell the story of a person who is standing on what appears to be a bridge, but is actually an abyss. The person is questioning why they are at this high point, watching people run beneath them. They are confused about their own journey of madness and death, and how they ended up in this moment. The person recalls a name that wasn't their own, which was a goodbye to someone who flew away forever. They don't know how they got so high, and if it was from God, a woman, or just bad luck. Tears of stars wait below, dressed in blood and light, acting out scenes of couples making deals and disguising themselves in crosses.

The song continues to explore the concept of eleven minutes, eleven sins, eleven betrayals, eleven failures, eleven illusions, eleven caresses, eleven blows, and eleven chimes of a new year. The person sings about the water flow in the river of time, and the hundreds of five-day nights they've experienced. The lyrics speak to the uncertainty of what will happen under the sun, and the laughter of the devil heard above the noise of the storm. The song ends with references to the eleven commandments and the eleven lies that can kill the life of a person.

Overall, the lyrics of 11 minutos address themes of confusion, loss of direction, and the harsh reality of life and death.

Es una historía real? Aunque me temo que sí.

Manuel Simental
