In 1982, three guys from Concepción, Álvaro Henríquez, Roberto Titae Lindl, and Pancho Molina started a band called Los Dick Stones, whose set list was based on songs by Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, and Gene Vincent. They quickly became very popular in universities, bars, and peñas around the southern city of Concepción. Given their ambition to achieve success in the Chilean mainstream, they decided to move to the capital city of Santiago and changed their name to Los Tres. In 1988 Ángel Parra joined the band and even though Los Tres is Spanish for "the three", they decided to keep the name.
During years when culture and art began to rise again -after the cultural and night life had been reduced for almost 20 years due to the military regime that had ruled Chile since 1973-, the times were right for their music to develop and their popularity to grow. They recorded 9 albums during their first stage together, from 1982 until 2000.
In 2000 the band went into an indefinite break and its members continued their musical careers in personal projects.
On 2006 Los Tres, with the exception of Pancho Molina, announced their reunion including a show in May, the festival Vive Latino in Mexico City, and a show in Santiago de Chile. The first single Camino was already released. Their tenth album (Hágalo usted mismo) was a result of this reunion. The band is still together.

Llueven pétalos negros en la ciudad
Mojan lo más seco de mi soledad
Me duele muy profundo no volver a verte más
Se apagó tu voz para mí, la mía para tí
The song "El sueño de la hora mas oscura" by Los Tres tells a story about deep sadness and loneliness. The opening lyrics, "Llueven pétalos negros en la ciudad" or "Black petals rain in the city," set the dreary mood of the song. The black petals could symbolize death or the end of something significant. The main character is feeling the weight of his solitude as the rain soaks the dryness within him. He deeply feels the pain of not being able to see the person he loves anymore. The lines "Se apagó tu voz para mí, la mía para tí" or "Your voice went out for me, mine for you" hint to a strained or broken relationship. It's unclear who ended the relationship, but it left the singer feeling empty and disconnected.
As the song progresses, the character reminisces about past memories with his lost love. He says "En un rosal te vi sonreir" or "I saw you smiling in a rose garden." The rose garden could symbolize happy memories or the beauty of love in the past. He longs to go back to those moments but realizes that those moments are now gone. He continues to be immersed in his solitude and says, "En tu recuerdo me quedo a vivir" or "In your memory, I choose to live."
The song is a melancholic ode to lost love, and the deep sadness that it brings. The lyrics are poignant and show the power of love and its effects on people. The melody of the song is also haunting, adding to its emotional impact. Los Tres's "El sueño de la hora mas oscura" is a beautiful piece of music that connects with the heartache and solitude that we all have experienced at some point in our lives.
