In 1982, three guys from Concepción, Álvaro Henríquez, Roberto Titae Lindl, and Pancho Molina started a band called Los Dick Stones, whose set list was based on songs by Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, and Gene Vincent. They quickly became very popular in universities, bars, and peñas around the southern city of Concepción. Given their ambition to achieve success in the Chilean mainstream, they decided to move to the capital city of Santiago and changed their name to Los Tres. In 1988 Ángel Parra joined the band and even though Los Tres is Spanish for "the three", they decided to keep the name.
During years when culture and art began to rise again -after the cultural and night life had been reduced for almost 20 years due to the military regime that had ruled Chile since 1973-, the times were right for their music to develop and their popularity to grow. They recorded 9 albums during their first stage together, from 1982 until 2000.
In 2000 the band went into an indefinite break and its members continued their musical careers in personal projects.
On 2006 Los Tres, with the exception of Pancho Molina, announced their reunion including a show in May, the festival Vive Latino in Mexico City, and a show in Santiago de Chile. The first single Camino was already released. Their tenth album (Hágalo usted mismo) was a result of this reunion. The band is still together.

Los Tres Lyrics

De este lugar
Arrastré el calor
Del basural
Que brillaba sobre tí
No sé si fue tan así
Con mi voz de plata
Romper los cristales
Llorar, esperar
Y en tu cama brillará
El sol que no volverá
No es tan fácil
Ser feliz
Cuando opacaste el barniz
Que pintaste verde, azul y gris
Que quitaste a espaldas de mí
Que pintaste verde
The song He Barrido el Sol by Los Tres has a melodious tune and deep lyrics that describe a sense of loss, disappointment, and regrets. The first verse describes the singer's efforts to sweep away the sun from a place where he once shared happy memories with someone. He tries to erase the warmth and brightness that once existed between them but failed. The second line "Arrastré el calor" implies that he tried to take away the love they shared but couldn't do so because it was deeply embedded in their hearts. The next two lines "Del basural que brillaba sobre ti, no sé si fue tan así" suggest that the relationship was not as bright and glorious as he thought it was, and that what shone before was merely a reflection of his own desires, longing, and hopes.
The second verse states that the singer will use his voice to make the other person feel his pain, sorrow, and loneliness. The lyrics "Haré temblar, Romper los cristales" show that he wants to break down the barriers that the other person had built to keep him away, and that he wants to reveal his true self to her. The next line "Llorar, esperar" indicates that he still hopes that they can be together again and that they can share the same feelings they once had. The last two lines "Y en tu cama brillará, el sol que no volverá" epitomize his desire to rekindle the light and warmth that once existed between them, but he knows it's impossible because she is no longer his. Instead, he is left with memories of what was and what could have been.
